Fits HP Tablet 7 1800 and replaces OEM part numbers HSTNH-B14C-S, 10979176-00, 739691-001, WD3870127P, HSTNH-B20C, and HSTNH-B20C-S.
3.7V, 4100mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 15.17Wh to power processor, display, and WiFi on this 7-inch tablet.
Connector solders directly to the tablet mainboard; polarity marked on cell and PCB prevents reverse installation.
We bench-tested this cell in an HP Slate 7 1800 — BMS accepted the new pack on first charge without fault codes or thermal throttling.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% to reset the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Tablet 7 1800 / Slate 7 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HSTNH-B14C-S)

This is a 3.7V, 4100mAh Li-Polymer battery for the HP Tablet 7 1800 and Slate 7 series, including the Slate 7 1800, Slate 7 Voice Tab, and Slate 7 Voice Tab Dual SIM. It replaces OEM part numbers HSTNH-B14C-S, HSTNH-B20C-S, 739691-001, and 10979176-00. Swap this in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • Slate 7 series compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell covers the full lineup. The fuel gauge IC communicates over a dedicated line; a cell mismatch here causes instant rejection at boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on Slate 7 hardware. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, and the charge IC stepped through CC/CV phases cleanly with no thermal events or negotiation failures.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installing this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff under normal screen-on use — do not force-power-off. Then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. This single full cycle lets the fuel gauge IC re-anchor its calibration to the new cell's actual capacity curve.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage-capacity curve. The new cell's voltage drops more steeply near the bottom of the curve than the degraded original did — so the IC interprets a normal mid-discharge voltage as critically low and triggers a protective shutdown. It is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one complete discharge to automatic cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after that cycle the IC recalibrates and shutdowns at low percentage stop.

Fast charge not available after battery swap on Slate 7

Some Slate 7 units show only standard charge rates after a battery replacement, even when using the original charger. The charge controller stores negotiation state from the previous cell and needs one accepted full charge cycle to re-establish the handshake with the new cell's BMS. Plug in using the original HP adapter and allow a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. If fast charge still does not activate after that cycle, confirm the adapter output — the HP Slate 7 charger should supply 5V at a minimum of 1.0A to trigger the higher charge rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HP Slate 7 now shows 100% then drops to 60% within minutes after the battery swap — what's wrong?

The fuel gauge IC is still reading the old cell's calibration data. It hasn't mapped the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve yet, so percentage jumps are meaningless for the first cycle or two. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff under normal use — screen on, WiFi active — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without disconnecting. After that single full cycle, the IC reanchors to the new cell and the percentage display stabilises.

The tablet gets noticeably warm near the top edge while charging after the battery replacement — is the cell defective?

No. The charge IC on a new Li-Polymer cell runs slightly warmer during its first few CC/CV cycles than it did on a degraded original cell — a degraded cell accepts less current, so the IC was doing less work. Warmth near the charge circuit area during the first two or three full charges is normal. If the tablet becomes too hot to hold or the back panel swells at any point, disconnect immediately and do not recharge — but gentle warmth during charging is expected behaviour on a new cell.

HP Slate 7 percentage drops faster than expected starting from 100% — recalibration cycle didn't fix it

If one full discharge-to-cutoff and uninterrupted recharge didn't resolve the drift, the fuel gauge IC may need a second cycle to fully converge on the new cell. Run a second complete discharge under display-plus-WiFi load — avoid leaving it idle overnight on partial charge between cycles. If percentage drift persists after two full cycles, check that the connector is fully seated; a partially connected cell causes intermittent contact that produces erratic fuel gauge readings. Reseat the connector and run the calibration cycle again from 100%.
