This is a 3.7V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Verizon Ellipsis QMV7A 7-inch Android tablet. It also fits the Ellipsis MV7A, QMV7A 8GB, and QMV7B. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the tablet won't power on.

  • Ellipsis QMV7A and QMV7B compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell Li-Polymer architecture, identical connector pinout, and the same charge IC handshake — so one cell covers the full lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the QMV7A platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake immediately, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold without nuisance cutoffs during display and WiFi load.
  • Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this cell, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full reference cycle against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that almost always appear after a battery swap.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

The Ellipsis QMV7A draws a combined load from the display backlight and WiFi radio simultaneously. Under that load, a new Li-Polymer cell can show a steeper voltage drop than the fuel gauge IC expects, because the IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The tablet interprets that voltage drop as a critically low state and triggers a shutdown — even though actual capacity remains. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% to synchronise the fuel gauge to the new cell's curve.

Fast charging unavailable after swapping the QMV7A battery

The Ellipsis QMV7A uses a USB-PD negotiation sequence that requires the charge IC to complete at least one accepted charge cycle before the device unlocks higher charge rates. Immediately after a swap, the tablet defaults to standard 5V charging while it validates the new cell. Plug in, let the first charge run from low to 100% without interruption, and fast charge should become available on the next session.

The fuel gauge IC on the QMV7A calibrates its percentage readings against the discharge history of the previous cell, not the new one. After a swap, reported percentages are unreliable until the IC runs one full reference cycle. Drain the tablet to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the gauge will read accurately against the new 4000mAh cell.

The tablet goes from 20% to dead instantly — no warning shutdown, just off.

This is a voltage cliff: under the combined load of the display and WiFi radio, the cell voltage drops sharply at the low end of the charge curve, and the protection circuit cuts power before the OS can issue a warning. It happens most often before the fuel gauge IC has a calibration cycle on the new cell. The QMV7A feels warm near the charge port while the new battery is charging — is that normal?

Some warmth around the charge port and back panel is expected on the first few charge cycles with a new Li-Polymer cell. The charge IC runs a conditioning phase at a slightly higher current while it profiles the new cell's internal resistance. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or the warmth continues after three full cycles, check that the charge port pins are clean and that you are using a 5V USB-PD source — anything higher than 5V that the device hasn't negotiated can stress the charge IC.
