The HB3X1 is a 3.7V, 6400mAh Li-Polymer cell that powers the Huawei MediaPad 10 Link, S10-201W, and S10-201WA tablets. This replacement restores the tablet to full operating capacity when the original cell has degraded or stopped holding a charge. Voltage, connector pinout, and physical dimensions match the OEM specification.

  • MediaPad 10 Link / S10-201W platform fit: The S10-201W and S10-201WA share the same battery bay geometry, flex connector, and BMS handshake as the standard MediaPad 10 Link. One cell revision covers all three variants without any modification to the housing or connector.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the MediaPad 10 Link platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity, and no voltage anomalies appeared under combined display-plus-WiFi load.
  • Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this cell, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a cell defect. When the display backlight and WiFi radio draw simultaneously, the combined load pulls the cell voltage down faster than the fuel gauge IC expects based on its old calibration data. The system interprets the voltage dip as a critically low state and triggers an emergency shutdown before the gauge reads zero. Run one complete discharge cycle to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% uninterrupted — this recalibrates the IC against the new cell's actual discharge curve and moves the shutdown threshold back to the correct voltage floor.

Fast charging not resuming after battery swap on the MediaPad 10 Link

Huawei's charge protocol requires the charge IC on the new cell to complete at least one full accepted charge cycle before the controller re-enables higher current delivery. Immediately after installation, the tablet defaults to standard 5V charging as a safety measure. Charge the tablet fully from below 10% without interruption. After that first complete cycle, fast charge behaviour returns on supported chargers — confirm with the original Huawei charger before swapping the cable or adapter.

It's not accurate yet. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell, so it misreads the new cell's voltage as a higher state of charge. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff without charging it partway, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single full cycle, the IC recalibrates against the new cell and the percentage display stabilises.

The MediaPad 10 Link feels warm near the charging port while the new battery charges — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles is expected. The charge IC on a new Li-Polymer cell runs slightly warmer while it establishes the correct charge termination profile, particularly in the constant-current phase before the voltage peaks at 4.2V per cell. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or the warmth persists beyond the first three full cycles, check that the charger output matches the OEM rating. Normal operating temperature settles after those initial cycles.

The battery percentage on my MediaPad 10 Link drops noticeably faster from 100% to 80% than from 80% to 60% — is this a faulty cell?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a faulty cell. The top portion of the charge curve has a steeper voltage slope on a fresh Li-Polymer cell compared to the worn cell the IC was calibrated to, so the gauge counts down faster at the top of the range. Complete one full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. The IC maps the new cell's full voltage range during that cycle and the drop rate evens out across the percentage scale.
