Fits Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 models SM-X710, SM-X710N, and SM-X716 — replaces OEM battery EB-BX716ABY and connector assembly GH82-31774A.
3.88V nominal, 8150mAh capacity delivers the same charge window as the factory cell across display, processor, and WiFi loads.
Connector slides straight into the factory slot with a single locking tab on the left edge — orientation matters, contact surface faces the logic board.
We bench-tested this cell in SM-X710 hardware; the BMS accepted input on first cycle with no fault codes or voltage rail instability at resting state.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration and corrects the inaccurate percentage display that appears after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 — 3.88V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BX716ABY)

This is a 3.88V, 8150mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9. It fits the SM-X710, SM-X710N, and SM-X716 model variants. Use it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly under normal use.

  • SM-X710 and SM-X716 compatibility: Both the Wi-Fi and 5G variants of the Tab S9 use the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. The BMS handshake is identical across these SKUs, so one cell covers the full Tab S9 lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SM-X710 board. The BMS accepted charge current correctly, reported state-of-charge to the OS without fault codes, and held voltage flat across the mid-range draw of the display and processor together.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. The fuel gauge IC calibrates itself against the new cell during this first full cycle — skipping it causes the percentage display to read inaccurately for days.

Tab S9 shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

The Galaxy Tab S9 draws hard on the battery when the display is at full brightness and Wi-Fi or 5G is active simultaneously. A fresh cell that hasn't been calibrated has a voltage curve the fuel gauge IC doesn't yet recognise. The IC reads an early voltage cliff and triggers a protective shutdown before the cell is actually empty. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% realigns the IC's voltage map to the new cell — after that, the shutdowns stop.

Fast charging not available after battery swap on the Tab S9

The Tab S9 uses USB Power Delivery negotiation to enable fast charge — the charger and tablet exchange capability packets before stepping up current. On a freshly installed cell, the charge IC sometimes holds the session at standard 5V until it completes one accepted charge cycle with the new battery. Plug in the original Samsung charger and let the first cycle complete fully without interruption. After that cycle, USB-PD negotiation resumes normally and the fast charge indicator returns.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Tab S9 is showing 40% battery but suddenly shuts off — is this a faulty replacement cell?

The cell itself is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC calibrated its voltage curve against the old, worn cell and doesn't yet know where the new cell's actual floor sits. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% — one complete cycle resets the IC's reference points. After that, the percentage readout tracks accurately and the premature shutdowns stop.

The Tab S9 feels warm near the charging port while the new battery is charging — should I stop?

Warmth at the charge IC during the first few cycles on a new cell is normal. The charge controller works harder on an unfamiliar cell while it maps charge acceptance rate and sets current limits. We saw the same behaviour on the bench — surface temperature stayed well within safe range and dropped to baseline by the third cycle. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or shows a temperature warning on screen, disconnect and check the charger output voltage is within 5–20V for USB-PD.

The battery percentage on my Tab S9 drops fast from 100% to around 70%, then slows down — what's causing that?

This is fuel gauge drift, not actual capacity loss. The IC inherited calibration data from the old cell and is misreading the discharge curve of the new one — the top portion of the curve appears steeper than it really is. Run one full cycle: discharge to automatic shutoff, charge uninterrupted to 100%. The IC re-maps the voltage-to-percentage curve against the real cell, and the percentage steps become even again from the top of the charge down.
