Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 SM-230 Series — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SP4073B3H)
This 3.85V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0. It fits the SM-230, SM-230UN, SM-231, SM-235, and related variants that share the SP4073B3H OEM part number. Install it when the original cell no longer holds adequate charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- SM-230 series compatibility: These models share the same 3.85V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The SP4073B3H part number spans the SM-230, SM-230UN, SM-231, and SM-235 variants — all use the same physical cell and communication spec.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the SM-230 platform. The BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly, voltage held steady under simultaneous display-on and WiFi load, and no thermal fault flags were triggered.
- Post-install fuel gauge reset: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear after any cell swap.
Why the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 shuts down between 15–25% remaining
The Tab 4 7.0's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity slope, so the IC misjudges the low-voltage cliff. Under combined display and WiFi load, actual cell voltage can drop faster than the IC predicts, tripping the low-voltage cutoff before the reported percentage reaches zero. Running one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle then a full uninterrupted charge lets the IC relearn the new cell's curve and eliminates premature shutdowns.
Fast charging unavailable on the SM-230 after a battery swap
The Tab 4 7.0 uses adaptive fast charge negotiation that ties charge rate acceptance to a completed prior charge cycle. Immediately after a cell swap, the charge IC may default to standard 5V input until one full charge cycle confirms the new cell is present and stable. If the fast charge indicator does not appear, connect the tablet to the original Samsung adaptive charger and allow one full charge cycle to complete from under 10% to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, adaptive charging resumes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 is showing the wrong battery percentage after I swapped the battery — is something wrong with the new cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The tablet's fuel gauge IC stored calibration data from the old battery, and it's now measuring the new cell against an incorrect reference curve. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff on a single discharge, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. That one full cycle resets the IC against the new cell's actual voltage profile and the percentage display corrects itself.
My Tab 4 7.0 gets noticeably warm while charging after fitting the new battery — should I be concerned?
Mild warmth during charging is normal when the charge IC encounters a new cell for the first time. The IC runs a slightly higher acceptance current on the first cycle while it characterises the cell's internal resistance. If the tablet feels hot to the touch or the charge stops before 100%, check that the charger output matches Samsung's spec — 5V/2A minimum. Warmth that fades after the first full cycle is expected and not a fault.
The battery percentage on my SM-230 drops fast from 100% but then slows down — why does it do that?
This is fuel gauge drift, not a defective cell. The IC calibrated its top-of-charge reference against the old battery's capacity, so it over-reports capacity near 100% and the percentage falls quickly until it catches up to real voltage. A full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by a single uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the top-of-charge reference. After that recalibration cycle the percentage drop rate across the full range evens out.
