This is a 3.8V, 3350mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 line. It fits SM-T330, SM-T331, SM-T335, and Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 3G variants. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an SM-T331 unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault flags, held voltage above 3.6V through mid-discharge, and hit the low-voltage cutoff cleanly at the expected floor.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. The fuel gauge IC on the Tab 4 is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Why the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 shuts down at 15–25% remaining

The Tab 4's display backlight and Wi-Fi radio together pull enough current to expose a voltage cliff that the fuel gauge does not predict accurately. When the cell voltage drops sharply under that combined load, the BMS trips an undervoltage cutoff before the reported percentage reaches zero. A worn original cell makes this worse because internal resistance is higher, amplifying the voltage sag. A new cell with lower internal resistance reduces the sag, but the fuel gauge still needs one full recalibration cycle before percentage readings are trustworthy.

Fast charging unavailable after battery replacement on SM-T331

Some users find that Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charge does not kick in on the first charge after a swap. The charge IC negotiates the fast-charge protocol during an accepted charge session, and a new cell resets that negotiation state. Plug the tablet into the original Samsung charger and let it complete one full charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, fast-charge negotiation resumes normally — confirm by checking that the charger brick runs noticeably warm during the next session, which indicates elevated charge current is flowing.

The tablet feels warm while charging with the new battery — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth during charging is normal with a fresh Li-Polymer cell. The charge IC runs a slightly higher current during the first few sessions as it characterises the new cell. If the back of the tablet stays below the point where it becomes uncomfortable to hold, the temperature is within spec. If it gets hot enough to be painful or the device throws a temperature warning, stop charging and check that the replacement cell dimensions — 132.10 x 79.00 x 3.40mm — match the original so the cell is seated flat against the thermal path.

My Tab 4 8.0 percentage drops fast from 100% but then slows down — is the battery faulty?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a faulty cell. The stored charge map in the gauge IC doesn't match the new cell's actual capacity yet, so the top portion of the curve reads faster than reality. The drop rate usually evens out by 70–80% on the first cycle. Complete one full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the gauge recalibrates — the drop rate from full should read consistently after that cycle.
