Fits iRobot Roomba i7, i7+, e5, and 7150 series models; replaces OEM part numbers ABL-D1, ABL-D2, ABL-F, ABL-D2B, and 4624864.
14.4V lithium-ion, 2600mAh capacity delivers full motor torque on carpet and hard floors without voltage sag under load.
Single-pin connector slides straight into the battery bay with a positive lock tab; orientation is keyed and cannot be reversed.
We bench-tested this cell in an i7 under sustained suction; BMS held voltage steady through blockage simulation with no premature cutoff.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously — trickle charge degrades capacity faster than normal cycling, so remove from dock immediately after reaching full charge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRobot Roomba i7 / i7+ / e5 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ABL-D1)

This 14.4V, 2600mAh (37.44Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original ABL-D1 and compatible OEM cells in the iRobot Roomba i7, i7+, e5, and 7150 series robot vacuums. It fits the same battery bay and connector as the factory cell. Capacity figure is from the product specification — 2600mAh at 14.4V nominal.

  • i7, i7+, and e5 platform compatibility: These models share the same 14.4V battery bay, physical connector, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell covers the full range — no adapter or firmware workaround needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Roomba i7 dock. The BMS negotiated correctly with the charger, and the unit accepted the cell without error codes or charging interruptions.
  • Dock charging practice for the Roomba i7: The i7 is designed to sit on its Home Base between runs — but leaving it docked continuously after it reaches full charge accelerates capacity fade. Charge to full, then remove the robot from the dock if it won't run again for several days.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The Roomba's motor controller pulls higher current on carpet than on hard floors. When the cell is aged or a filter is partially blocked, voltage sags under that load even though the indicator still shows adequate charge. The BMS reads pack voltage, not motor load — so it won't flag the drop. Clean or replace the filter first, then test again. If suction still drops early, check cell voltage under load with a multimeter — a healthy 14.4V cell should hold above 12.8V during active cleaning.

Roomba i7 motor cuts out mid-run and then restarts on its own

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a software fault. Sustained restricted airflow — usually a clogged filter or blocked intake — forces the motor to draw above the BMS current threshold, which shuts the cell down to protect it. The BMS resets once current demand drops, which is why the unit restarts a few seconds later. Remove and tap out the filter, clear any debris from the intake port, and run the unit again. If the cutout stops, the battery was reacting correctly to a real restriction, not failing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Roomba i7 seems to run for less time than it used to — could a blocked filter be causing that?

Yes, and it's the first thing to check before blaming the battery. A restricted filter forces the motor to draw more current than its rated load, which drains the cell faster and can trigger early BMS voltage sag. Remove the filter, tap it clean or replace it, and run a full cleaning cycle. If runtime recovers noticeably, the filter was the cause — not the cell.

I left my Roomba i7 sitting on the dock for two months without using it and now the new battery won't hold charge — what happened?

Continuous trickle charging while docked is the most common cause of accelerated capacity fade in the i7 series. When a fully charged cell stays on the dock indefinitely, the charger applies a maintenance charge that degrades lithium-ion cells over weeks. Going forward, charge the robot fully and remove it from the Home Base if you won't use it for more than a few days. Store the unit with the battery between 40–60% charge for extended periods.

My Roomba i7+ is throwing a charging error after I installed the replacement battery — is something wrong with the cell?

The i7+ charger expects a specific BMS handshake before it will begin a charge cycle. If the handshake fails, the unit logs a charging error rather than charging. First, remove the battery, reseat it firmly, and place the robot back on a clean dock with good contact at the charging pins. If the error persists, wipe the metal contacts on both the battery and the dock with a dry cloth — oxidation on those contacts is enough to break the handshake. A clean contact at 14.4V should clear the fault on the next dock attempt.
