Fits Kärcher K50, K85, BF9900, and K5.0 models; replaces OEM part number ABS-K55.
4.8V Ni-MH chemistry with 3000mAh capacity delivers sustained motor power on cordless vacuums without voltage sag under suction load.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a spring-loaded locking tab; no adapter needed for K50 platform.
We bench tested the cell on a K50 motor load rig; the BMS delivered clean voltage curve with no early cutoff at sustained draw.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock after the battery reaches full charge — continuous trickle charging degrades Ni-MH capacity significantly faster than remove-when-full cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Karcher K50 / K85 Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (ABS-K55)

This is a 4.8V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Karcher K50 handheld vacuum cleaner and compatible models including the K85, BF9900, and K5.0 1.258-106.0. It replaces the OEM ABS-K55 cell pack when the original no longer holds charge through a full cleaning cycle. Capacity is 14.4Wh — matched to the original specification.

  • K50 and K85 platform fit: These models share the same 4.8V battery bay, connector orientation, and motor drive circuit. The ABS-K55 cell pack slots directly into all units on that platform without wiring changes or adapter hardware.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the K50's motor controller under load and monitored BMS cutoff thresholds. Cell voltage held stable across discharge and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage without requiring a manual reset.
  • Dock charging habit on the K50: Do not leave the K50 sitting on its charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells in continuous trickle charge degrade faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the unit from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the K50

The K50 motor draws current proportional to airflow restriction. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor pulls harder to maintain suction — this pushes current draw above the battery's comfortable discharge rate. Cell voltage sags under that elevated draw, which the motor controller reads as low battery before the indicator circuit agrees. Clean or replace the filter first. If suction recovers and holds, the battery is not the cause.

Motor cuts out briefly then restarts during a vacuuming pass

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. Sustained restricted suction — caused by a clogged filter or blocked nozzle — forces the motor to draw beyond the BMS current limit, triggering a temporary shutoff to protect the cells. The BMS resets automatically once current drops, which is why the motor restarts on its own. Clear the restriction, then confirm resting cell voltage sits above 4.6V before continuing use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My K50 runs for a short time then the motor shuts off and restarts on its own — is the new battery faulty?

This is almost always a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. A restricted filter or blocked nozzle forces the motor to draw more current than the protection circuit allows, so it cuts power briefly then resets. Remove the filter and check for blockages before blaming the battery. If suction holds normally after cleaning the filter, the pack is fine.

The K50 loses noticeable suction well before the low-battery indicator lights up — why?

Under a partially blocked filter, the motor pulls harder to compensate, which causes cell voltage to sag under the elevated load. The motor controller sees that voltage drop as low power before the indicator circuit catches up. This is voltage sag from motor strain, not a capacity problem with the battery. Clean the filter first — if suction recovers and stays consistent, the battery is not the issue.

I keep my K50 on the dock between uses and the new battery already seems weaker — what's happening?

Ni-MH cells sitting on continuous trickle charge degrade faster than cells that are only charged when depleted. The K50 dock does not terminate charge fully — it continues to pass a low current even after the pack is full. Remove the vacuum from the dock once charging is complete and only return it when the battery needs a charge cycle.
