If the filter is even partially restricted, that spike pushes current past the BMS threshold and the protection circuit opens briefly — the motor stops, then restarts once current normalises. Clear the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap. If the cutouts stop after that, the battery is not the fault. If they continue on a clean machine, verify the replacement cell's BMS trip current matches the X5S motor spec — rated at 14.4V nominal.
