Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Media R1 / R3-L101C — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650-4S1P)
This is a 14.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery pack for the Media R1 and R3-L101C cordless vacuum cleaners. It uses a 4S1P configuration — four 18650 cells wired in series — matching the original pack's voltage rail and connector layout. Capacity is 2600mAh as specified in the product data.
- R1 and R3-L101C compatibility: Both models run the same 14.4V motor platform and share the INR18650-4S1P pack format. The connector, BMS handshake, and cell arrangement are identical across this vacuum line, so one pack fits either unit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the R1 platform. The BMS handled motor-start inrush current without tripping and held consistent voltage delivery through the full discharge curve.
- Dock charging behaviour on the R1 and R3-L101C: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously between uses. The R1 and R3-L101C docks do not fully terminate charge — cells see a low-level trickle that accelerates capacity fade. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low on the R1
This happens when the motor is working against a restriction — a clogged filter, packed dustbin, or partially blocked nozzle. The motor draws more current to maintain suction, which pulls the cell voltage down faster than normal. The BMS reads this voltage sag as a low-battery condition and begins throttling output before the indicator registers it. Clear the filter and empty the bin first — if suction restores, the pack is not the issue.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty pack. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, jammed brush roll, or sealed nozzle — the motor current spikes past the BMS protection threshold and the pack shuts off. A short pause lets the BMS reset, which is why the vacuum starts again seconds later. Fix the restriction first. If the motor cuts out on a clear nozzle with a fresh filter, check that the battery terminals are seating fully and the pack voltage at rest reads at least 14.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Media R1 runs for much less time than it used to — is the filter to blame or is it the battery?
A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, which drains the pack significantly faster than normal. Remove and clean the filter first — if runtime improves, the filter was the cause. If the filter is clear and runtime is still short, the original pack has degraded and the cells are no longer holding a full charge. A replacement pack running through a clean filter should restore the rated capacity.
The R1 powers on, runs for a few seconds, then shuts off and won't restart until I leave it a few minutes — what's happening?
That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip. The pack cuts power when current spikes past the protection threshold, then resets after a short pause. It almost always points to a mechanical restriction — check the brush roll for tangled debris and clear the nozzle and filter before assuming the pack is faulty. If the trip happens on a completely unobstructed machine, check that the battery is seated firmly; a loose terminal causes a momentary short that triggers the same cutoff.
I left my R1 on the charging dock for several weeks and now it loses charge quickly even on a full cycle — did the dock damage the cells?
Yes — the R1 and R3-L101C docks do not cut charge fully when the pack is topped up. Cells left on continuous low-level trickle charge develop capacity fade faster than cells that are charged and then removed. This is one of the most common reasons for early pack degradation on this vacuum line. Going forward, charge to full and take the vacuum off the dock — check the indicator, and once it shows full, disconnect it.
