Fits UPCAN R1 cordless vacuum cleaner and replaces the 14.4V OEM battery pack.
14.4V nominal and 2600mAh capacity deliver consistent motor voltage under sustained suction load on carpets.
Battery slides vertically into the R1 handle slot with a single locking tab at the base.
We bench-tested this cell on the R1's motor under full suction blockage; the BMS held steady through the thermal spike.
Do not leave this battery on the R1's charging dock after it reaches full charge — dock trickle charging degrades lithium capacity faster than charge-and-remove cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UPCAN R1 — 14.4V Li-ion 2600mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V Li-ion battery rated at 2600mAh (37.44Wh), built to replace the original pack in the UPCAN R1 cordless vacuum. It fits the R1 stick and handheld vacuum and restores suction power to a unit running on a depleted or failed original cell. Voltage and capacity match the original specification.

  • R1 vacuum platform: The R1 motor controller draws from a fixed 14.4V rail. A cell outside that voltage window causes the controller to cut power before the battery indicator reaches low. This replacement holds the correct voltage window throughout its discharge curve.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery under simulated vacuuming load — sustained draw with periodic high-current spikes to replicate carpet and upholstery transitions. The BMS held cutoff thresholds without nuisance trips across repeated cycles.
  • Dock charging on the R1: Remove the R1 from the charging dock once the indicator shows full. The R1 dock does not cut trickle current automatically. Leaving it docked continuously accelerates capacity fade in the cells — charge when depleted, remove when full.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the R1

This is a voltage sag issue, not an indicator calibration problem. When the motor encounters resistance — a partially blocked filter or a dense carpet pile — current draw spikes. An aged or partially failed cell cannot sustain voltage under that spike, so the motor controller reduces power or cuts out even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. A fresh cell with healthy internal resistance holds voltage under the same load. If suction drops before the indicator hits low, check the filter first, then replace the cell if the filter is clear.

R1 motor cutting out mid-use then recovering after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip. When restricted airflow — blocked filter or clogged brush roll — forces the motor to draw sustained high current, the BMS trips to protect the cells and cuts power. The pack recovers once the BMS resets, which takes a few seconds. The fix is not a new battery — clean or replace the filter first. If the cutout stops after clearing the filter, the BMS on the replacement pack is functioning correctly. If cutout continues on a clean filter, pull the pack voltage with a meter: below 12.5V under load points to a cell issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

My UPCAN R1 runs for a short time then suction just dies — is the new battery faulty?

Not necessarily. A blocked filter forces the motor to draw more than rated current, which trips the BMS overcurrent cutoff — the vacuum dies, the battery recovers in seconds. Clean or replace the filter first. If suction still cuts out on a clean filter, check pack voltage under load: a healthy cell should hold above 12.5V during normal use.

The UPCAN R1 used to last much longer — why has runtime dropped so quickly since I started leaving it on the dock overnight?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of capacity fade in the R1. The dock does not cut trickle current when the pack is full, so the cells stay under low-level charge stress for hours at a time. Over weeks, this degrades usable capacity. Charge the pack only when depleted and remove it from the dock once the indicator shows full.

The replacement battery shows full charge but the R1 loses suction power much sooner than expected — what's going on?

A full charge indicator confirms voltage, not cell capacity. If the pack voltage sags quickly under motor load, the cells are not delivering the rated 2600mAh to the motor — this presents as weak suction early in the cycle. First, rule out a partially blocked filter, which artificially increases current draw and drains the pack faster. If the filter is clear, measure pack voltage at rest and again under running load: a healthy pack should stay above 13V under normal vacuuming draw.
