Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Aastra BE3850 / BE3872 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Aastra BE3850 and BE3872 cordless DECT phone handsets, as well as the MOD B PLUGIN and PM38BAT variants. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores talk and standby capability. No OEM part number exists for this cell — fit is confirmed by model and physical dimensions (45.60 × 31.30 × 10.60mm).
- BE3850 / BE3872 handset fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.6V NiMH voltage rail. The connector orientation and cell footprint are identical across the BE series, which is why one SKU covers the full range including MOD B PLUGIN and PM38BAT variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the BE3850 platform. The BMS accepted the NiMH pack without error, and voltage held steady under the handset's RF transmit load — no mid-call cutoff observed.
- First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base cradle immediately after fitting and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. NiMH cells ship partially discharged and need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it will leave you short of the 700mAh ceiling for the first several cycles.
Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement
NiMH cells don't deliver full rated capacity on the first one or two cycles — that's chemistry, not a fault. The cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the electrodes are fully conditioned and the 700mAh rating is realised. If talk time is still noticeably short after five full cycles, check the base cradle contacts for oxidation — poor contact reduces charge current and leaves the cell under-filled. Clean the contacts with a dry cloth and confirm the handset seats flush, then run another full charge cycle before judging capacity.
Base station showing no charge or error light after fitting new battery
NiMH cells lose voltage during storage, and some Aastra base stations reject a pack that arrives below the acceptance threshold — typically anything under about 3.0V triggers a no-charge or fault state. The fix is to let the handset sit in the base for at least 30 minutes without lifting it; the base trickle-feeds the cell until voltage climbs into the accepted range and charging begins normally. If the error light persists past the 30-minute mark, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the base's charge detection cycle. Charging should begin with the indicator light changing to solid or slow-blink within a minute of reseating.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Aastra BE3850 handset isn't pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — did I break something?
No — some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset, which happens the moment the old battery comes out. The handset didn't lose programming; it just lost the active memory holding the base link. Re-register the handset using the pairing button on the base unit, following the steps in your Aastra system guide — the process takes under two minutes and restores full operation.
The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what's happening?
The most common cause is the handset not making solid contact with the charging pins in the cradle. If the handset is even slightly tilted or the cradle contacts are dirty, the base stops delivering charge current and the handset runs off battery in standby. Wipe the cradle contacts and the battery terminals on the handset with a dry cloth, reseat the handset so it clicks or sits flush, and check that the charge indicator light activates. A handset drawing normal standby current with good cradle contact will hold charge overnight without issue.
My BE3850 handset cuts out or loses range near the edges of my office — could this be the battery?
Yes — NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load the DECT radio draws, especially if the battery hasn't been fully conditioned yet. When voltage dips low enough, transmit power drops and effective range shrinks noticeably. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the 700mAh cell, then retest range. If the drop still occurs, check that the base station antenna is unobstructed and that the handset is fully charged to at least 4.2V equivalent before the range test.
