Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bell Equipment BE900FA — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Bell Equipment BE900FA cordless phone handset. It replaces the original cell when the handset no longer holds charge through a full call or drops off the base too quickly. Dimensions are 45.60 × 31.30 × 10.60mm — confirm against your existing battery before ordering.

  • BE900FA handset fit: The BE900FA runs on a single-cell 3.6V Ni-MH pack at this exact form factor. Swapping to the correct voltage keeps the handset's charging circuit and low-battery indicator working as they should — no modifications needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench. The cell accepts charge at the base station's trickle rate and the voltage holds steady under the RF transmit load the handset draws during a call.
  • First charge on a Ni-MH cordless handset: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — pulling the handset early cuts into how long it will run between charges.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

New Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On the first cycle, the handset may feel like it runs shorter than the original — that is normal. Each full cycle lets the chemistry settle and capacity climbs toward the rated 700mAh. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator shows, then place it back in the base for a complete charge, and repeat for those first few cycles.

Base station showing no charge or an error light after battery swap

When a Ni-MH pack sits in storage for months, its resting voltage drops below the threshold the base station uses to detect a valid battery. Some Bell Equipment base stations interpret this low voltage as a fault and refuse to begin charging. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the base's detection cycle. If the error persists, check that the handset contacts are clean and making solid connection with the cradle pins; a brief wipe with a dry cloth is enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BE900FA handset won't pair with the base after I put in the new battery — what happened?

Some DECT phones lose their pairing record when power is fully removed during a battery swap. The handset resets to an unpaired state and needs to re-register with the base. Find the registration button on your base station — usually labelled "Find" or "Register" — press and hold it, then follow the pairing sequence on the handset. The process takes under two minutes and the handset will behave normally once it re-registers.

The handset is fully charged but the range is noticeably shorter than it was with the old battery — why?

Transmit power on a DECT handset is drawn directly from the battery. If the Ni-MH pack is only a cycle or two in, its voltage sags under the RF load the radio pulls during transmission, and the handset backs off output power to protect itself. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first — capacity and voltage stability both improve as the cells condition. After that, if range is still reduced, check that the base station antenna is clear of large metal objects.

The battery drains completely overnight even though I left the handset in the base — is something wrong?

This points to a seating issue rather than a faulty cell. If the handset is not sitting squarely on the cradle contacts, the base station never begins charging and the handset runs on standby draw alone until the battery is flat. Remove the handset, check that nothing is blocking the cradle contacts, and reseat it — you should hear or feel a slight click as it seats correctly. Confirm the charge indicator light on the base comes on within a few seconds of reseating.
