Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Acer Aspire One 14 Z1401 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NC4782-3600)
This is a 10.8V, 2200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Acer Aspire One 14 Z1401 series laptop. It fits the Z1401, Z1-401-C9JN, and related Aspire One 14 variants that use OEM part NC4782-3600. Capacity is 2200mAh (23.76Wh), matching the original cell specification.
- Z1401 series compatibility: These models share the same 10.8V three-cell series pack format (3S1P), the same connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol — which is why multiple OEM part numbers cross-reference to a single physical cell pack on this platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Z1401 board and confirmed the BMS handshake completed correctly, the BIOS accepted the pack without flagging an unknown device, and charge current ramped normally from trickle to CC phase.
- Post-install discharge cycle on the Z1401: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The Aspire One 14 Z1401 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the pack itself. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS reads that EEPROM as blank or mismatched and flags it as degraded — even though the chemistry is fresh. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% to initialise the learn cycle. After two or three full cycles, the BIOS health reading will normalise.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge inherited capacity data from the old, degraded cell and is reading the remaining charge incorrectly. Under full CPU plus display load, the cell hits its low-voltage cutoff before the OS registers empty. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — after that, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the shutdowns stop. If it persists past three cycles, check that charge voltage at the pack connector reaches 12.6V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Aspire One Z1401 shows the battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" right after I installed the new cell — what's wrong?
The fuel gauge IC on the Z1401 loses its calibration reference when the cell is swapped and can report 0% or refuse to begin charging until it re-initialises. Disconnect the AC adapter, hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual board power, then reconnect and boot. If the BIOS still shows 0%, enter BIOS setup and check whether the battery is detected at all — a failed BMS handshake at 0V will show "no battery" rather than 0%, which points to a connector seating issue rather than a calibration fault.
Windows shows this battery as 23Wh but my original showed 32Wh — is the replacement underspec?
The Wh figure Windows reads comes from the EEPROM data embedded in the battery pack, not from a live measurement of the cell. A fresh replacement cell ships with factory EEPROM values that reflect rated chemistry capacity, and those figures can differ from what the aged original reported after years of learn-cycle updates. The actual cell in this pack is rated 2200mAh at 10.8V, which is 23.76Wh — that is the correct specification for the Z1401 platform. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and Windows will update the "full charge capacity" figure to match the real cell behaviour.
The Z1401 cuts out instantly when I unplug the charger even though the gauge shows 85% — what causes that?
This is a voltage sag fault, not a calibration issue. The cell cannot sustain the 10.8V rail under the combined load of the CPU, display backlight, and any active peripherals the moment AC is removed. The BMS interprets the voltage drop as a low-cell event and trips the cutoff. Check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated — a high-resistance connection amplifies sag. If the cell is correctly seated and the cutoff still trips immediately, measure the open-circuit voltage at the pack terminals; a healthy fully-charged 3S Li-ion pack should read between 12.4V and 12.6V.
