This is a 14.4V, 2200mAh (31.68Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Lenovo XiaoXin V4000, Y50C, Z51, and Z51-70 notebooks. It slots into the same bay as the original L14S4A01 cell and connects via the same BMS-managed connector. Install it when the original unit no longer holds charge or the system reports critical battery failure.

  • XiaoXin V4000 / Z51 platform fit: These models share a common 14.4V four-cell architecture, the same physical connector pinout, and identical BMS handshake protocol — which is why one part number covers all of them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge-discharge cycles on this cell using a Z51-70 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, balanced all four cells within spec, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the rated low-voltage cutoff.
  • Post-install calibration on Lenovo IdeaPad firmware: After fitting, run the laptop on battery until it reaches hibernate cutoff — do not interrupt. Then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this firmware line.

Why the Z51 shuts down at 20–30% shown after a battery swap

The Z51 and XiaoXin V4000 use a fuel gauge IC that retains capacity data calibrated to the old cell. When a new cell is installed, the IC's stored curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. Under full CPU and display load, voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts, and the system hits the low-voltage hardware cutoff before the reported percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to recalibrate against the new cell.

BIOS reporting battery health as "poor" or "replace" immediately after install

Lenovo's BIOS reads battery health from EEPROM data carried over from the previous cell's wear history — not from live readings off the new cell. The "poor" flag is stale data, not a fault with the replacement. Run Lenovo Vantage or the built-in battery diagnostic, then complete one full learn cycle: discharge to hibernate, charge uninterrupted to 100%. After the learn cycle completes, the BIOS re-reads actual cell data and the health status updates to normal.

My XiaoXin V4000 says 0% battery and won't charge right after I installed the new cell — what's wrong?

The fuel gauge IC read 0% from the old cell's EEPROM data and hasn't mapped the new cell yet. Plug in the AC adapter and leave it connected without interruption for a full charge cycle. If the percentage stays stuck at 0%, hold the power button for 30 seconds with the adapter connected to force a controller reset, then let it charge again. After one complete charge the IC picks up the new cell and the percentage reads correctly.

Windows shows this battery's capacity as 31Wh but my Lenovo Vantage reports a different Wh rating — which is right?

Vantage pulls its Wh figure from the EEPROM on the old cell's firmware record until a learn cycle overwrites it. The rated capacity of this cell is 31.68Wh — that is the correct value. Complete one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and Vantage will re-read the actual cell data and update the reported Wh to match.

New battery installed, but charge stops at 80% and never goes higher — is the cell faulty?

This is a BIOS charge-limit setting, not a cell fault. Lenovo's firmware on the Z51 and V4000 line includes a Conservation Mode that caps charging at 60% or 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Open Lenovo Vantage, go to Power → Battery Settings, and check whether Conservation Mode or a custom charge threshold is enabled. Disable it, reconnect the charger, and the battery will charge to 100%.
