This is a 10.8V, 2200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Acer Aspire One 14 Z1402 notebook. It fits the Z1402, 1402-394D, Z1402-C6UV, and related models in that lineup. It replaces OEM part numbers 18650-00-01-3S1P-0 and NC4782-3600.

  • Z1402 series compatibility: These models share a 3S1P cell configuration on a 10.8V rail with a common connector and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping within this series does not require firmware changes or connector adapters.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Z1402 unit. The BMS reported state-of-charge accurately after two calibration cycles, and the protection circuit responded correctly to both over-current and low-voltage cutoff thresholds.

Why the Z1402 BIOS reports poor battery health immediately after replacement

The Aspire One 14 stores battery health data in the EEPROM of the original cell's BMS. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS reads a blank or mismatched EEPROM and flags the battery as degraded before a single charge cycle runs. This is a data mismatch, not a cell fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge gives the BIOS enough cycle data to rewrite its health estimate. After two to three full cycles, the reported health figure stabilises.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge inherits the old cell's discharge profile and calls shutdown too early. The fix is to let the laptop discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff — not a manual shutdown — then recharge to 100% twice consecutively. After those two calibration cycles, the gauge tracks the new cell accurately and the early-shutdown behaviour stops.

The Aspire One 14 shows "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" right after I installed the new battery — what's happening?

The BIOS hasn't recognised the new cell's EEPROM data yet and is holding the charge circuit open as a safety measure. Shut the laptop down fully, remove the AC adapter for 30 seconds, reconnect power, then boot into Windows before doing anything else. In most Z1402 cases this clears the charge block within the first boot cycle. If it persists, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection trips the same protection flag.

System information shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says 48Wh or some other number that doesn't match the cell I installed — is it faulty?

The Wh figure displayed in Windows or the BIOS pulls from the EEPROM of the installed cell, not a live measurement. A new replacement cell ships with rated chemistry values that may differ from what the old cell wrote to that register. The 23.76Wh figure is the correct rated capacity for this 2200mAh, 10.8V cell. The displayed number corrects itself after the BIOS completes one full battery learn cycle — discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%.

My Z1402 shuts off instantly when I unplug the charger, even though the battery shows a charge percentage — why?

An instant shutdown on AC removal means the battery isn't delivering current to the system at all — the laptop was running entirely on AC with no battery in the circuit. Check that the battery connector clicked firmly into the motherboard socket; on the Z1402 chassis, the connector can sit at a slight angle and appear seated while making no electrical contact. Reseat the battery, press the connector flat until it clicks, then unplug AC again. If the laptop still shuts off instantly, check the connector pins on the board for bent contacts.
