Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Acer Aspire R3 Series — 15.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AC14B3K)
This is a 15.2V, 3200mAh (48.64Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Acer Aspire R3 and Aspire R3-131T notebook series. It replaces OEM part numbers AC14B3K and KT.00403.032. If your original cell has degraded or won't hold a charge, this unit restores the laptop's portable operation.
- Aspire R3 and R3-131T compatibility: These models share the same 15.2V four-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The same cell works across the R3-131T-P4QQ and R5 variants because Acer kept the voltage rail and EEPROM handshake consistent across that generation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an Aspire R3-131T. The BMS negotiated correctly with the motherboard, charge acceptance was normal from the first cycle, and the protection circuit tripped as expected at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Post-install calibration on the Aspire R3: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The Aspire R3's fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's actual capacity. Skipping this step causes the BIOS to report inaccurate health warnings for weeks.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the new cell
The Aspire R3 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the motherboard. When you swap cells, that stored data reflects the old, degraded battery — not the new one. Windows and the Acer BIOS will both flag poor health until the learn cycle is completed. Run a full discharge to hibernate, then a full uninterrupted charge. After two to three cycles the BIOS recalculates from actual cell data and the warning clears.
Aspire R3 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This is a voltage cliff symptom. Under full CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold while the fuel gauge still reads 20–30%. It usually means the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated its discharge curve to the new cell. Complete two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles. If the shutdowns continue after calibration, check the battery voltage under load with a multimeter — a healthy cell at 20% charge should hold above 14.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions
Windows says my new Acer battery is 0% or "unknown" right after I installed it — is the battery dead?
No. The Aspire R3's fuel gauge IC is reading EEPROM data left over from the old cell, not the actual charge state of the new one. Plug in the charger and let the battery charge uninterrupted to 100%, then run it down to hibernate cutoff. After one complete cycle the fuel gauge IC maps its discharge curve to the new cell and the "unknown" or 0% reading corrects itself.
My Aspire R3 shuts off suddenly when the charge indicator still shows 25% — what's causing that?
The fuel gauge hasn't calibrated its voltage-to-capacity curve to the new cell yet. Under combined CPU and screen load, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff point while the OS still reports 25% remaining. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles without interrupting the charge phase. If the early shutdowns persist after calibration, measure cell voltage under load — it should stay above 14.8V at the point of shutdown.
System information shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it lists a different number than 48.64Wh. Is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Wh figure shown in Windows Device Manager or Acer Care Center pulls from EEPROM data embedded during the original factory build — it reflects the rated Wh of whatever OEM cell was last registered, not the measured capacity of the replacement. The actual chemistry and voltage are correct. After two full calibration cycles the reported value will update to match the new cell's real-world capacity.
