Fits Acer Chromebook Tab 10 (D651N) and replaces OEM part numbers SQU-1706 and KT.00201.004.
This cell delivers 3.84V and 8750mAh (33.6Wh) — sufficient capacity to restore full charge cycles for web browsing, document editing, and video playback on this tablet.
Connector type is a two-pin JST; verify alignment before seating to avoid contact damage on the motherboard socket.
We bench-tested this pack in a D651N unit; the BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held voltage stable across a full discharge curve.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and resolves inaccurate percentage display that appears after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Acer Chromebook Tab 10 / D651N — 3.84V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SQU-1706)

This 3.84V, 8750mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original SQU-1706 (also listed as KT.00201.004) in the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 and D651N. It powers the tablet's Rockchip processor, IPS display, and ChromeOS system components. Dimensions are 138.80 × 107.00 × 3.80mm — confirm clearance inside your chassis before installation.

  • Chromebook Tab 10 and D651N fit: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The SQU-1706 part number covers the full production run of these two variants, so one cell works across both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Chromebook Tab 10 unit. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first cycle, reported state-of-charge correctly after one full calibration pass, and held voltage within spec at both light and display-intensive loads.
  • Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — do not force-power-off — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. This single cycle resets the ChromeOS fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity and eliminates the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after a swap.

Chromebook Tab 10 shutting down at 15–25% remaining

The Tab 10 draws a combined load from the display backlight, WiFi radio, and Rockchip SoC simultaneously during active use. Under this combined draw, cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC predicts — especially on an uncalibrated replacement cell. The ChromeOS low-voltage protection threshold triggers a shutdown before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%; this aligns the fuel gauge model to the cell's actual voltage curve and pushes that cutoff point back down below 5%.

USB-PD fast charging not available after battery swap

The Tab 10's charge controller uses USB Power Delivery negotiation to step up to higher charging rates. On a fresh replacement cell, the charge IC runs a conservative first-cycle current profile until it confirms cell health — this is normal behaviour, not a fault. Fast charge becomes available once the controller has completed one accepted full charge cycle. If fast charging still does not appear after that first cycle, switch to the original Acer charger and retry; third-party USB-C chargers that do not fully support USB-PD 2.0 will hold the charge rate at 5V regardless of cell state.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Acer Chromebook Tab 10 shows 80% charge right after I installed the new battery — is the percentage accurate?

No — the ChromeOS fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve, so the reading is off from the start. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff without force-powering it off, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. That single full cycle gives the fuel gauge enough data to recalibrate against the new cell, and the percentage display will track correctly after that.

The Tab 10 is shutting off by itself while the screen still shows 20% battery — what's causing that?

Under the combined load of the display, WiFi, and processor, cell voltage drops sharply in the lower charge range. The ChromeOS low-voltage protection triggers a shutdown when voltage hits its cutoff threshold, even if the gauge still reads 20%. This happens because the fuel gauge model hasn't been calibrated to the new cell yet. Complete one full discharge-to-automatic-shutoff cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge — the cutoff will shift back to below 5% displayed.

The replacement battery percentage drops noticeably faster from 100% down to 80% than it did from 80% to 60% — is the cell faulty?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a cell defect. The charge IC maps voltage to percentage using a stored discharge curve, and that curve is based on the old cell's characteristics. The top portion of the new cell's voltage curve doesn't match the stored model, so percentage appears to fall quickly at first then slow down. Run one complete discharge to automatic shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100%; after that cycle the gauge recalibrates and the drop rate evens out across the full range.
