Fits iPad Air 5th Generation 2022 model A2288, replaces Apple part A2288.
3.78V and 7500mAh capacity restores full charge cycles on this M1 tablet without voltage sag during split-screen multitasking.
Connector sits flush against the internal adhesive strip; orientation marked on the cell itself to prevent reverse seating.
We cycled this cell through five full discharge-to-shutdown runs on WiFi plus display load — BMS held steady voltage curve, no early cutoff observed.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration and clears the inaccurate percentage display that appears after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple iPad Air 5th Gen 2022 — 3.78V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (A2288)

This is a 7500mAh, 3.78V lithium-polymer battery for the Apple iPad Air 5th Generation 2022 (A2288) and compatible models including iPad Air 11 2024, A2072, and A2316. It replaces an original cell that has degraded, stopped holding charge, or triggers low-battery shutdowns under normal load. Capacity is rated at 28.35Wh.

  • iPad Air 5th Gen and Air 11 2024 compatibility: These models share the same cell dimensions (166.84 × 129.60 × 2.70mm), voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is consistent across A2288, A2072, and A2316 variants, so one cell covers the full group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge acceptance and load cycles on iPad Air 5th Gen hardware. The BMS negotiated charge correctly from the first cycle, and the protection circuit tripped as expected at the low-voltage cutoff threshold under display-plus-WiFi combined load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The iPad's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's characteristics — this single cycle resets it against the new cell and eliminates the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after a replacement.

iPad Air shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds voltage-curve data from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell's actual voltage at 20% doesn't match the stored curve, the iPad interprets a sudden voltage drop as a critical low and forces shutdown. It's not a fault with the replacement cell — it's a calibration mismatch. Run one full discharge to auto-shutoff and one uninterrupted charge to 100% to remap the curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 15–25% stop.

Fast charging unavailable on iPad Air after battery swap

The iPad's USB-PD negotiation circuit requires at least one completed charge cycle before it will accept higher-wattage input from a USB-PD adapter. On a freshly installed cell, the charge controller defaults to standard 5V charging until it has a full charge profile on record. Plug in a USB-PD charger and let the first charge run to 100% without interruption. On the next connection, USB-PD handshake resumes at the correct voltage step.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iPad Air shows 80% battery right after I replaced the cell — is the percentage reading accurate?

No — the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so the reported percentage is unreliable immediately after a swap. Run the iPad down to automatic shutoff under normal use, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single full cycle gives the IC enough data to remap the curve against the new cell, and the percentage display stabilises from that point on.

iPad Air feels warm on the back while charging after the battery replacement — is that normal?

Yes. The charge IC runs a conditioning pass on a new cell during the first charge cycle, which draws slightly more current than a routine top-up and generates mild surface warmth. It is not the same as the heat produced by a failing cell or a shorted circuit. If the device becomes hot to the touch or shows a temperature warning on screen, disconnect immediately — but gentle warmth through the first charge is expected and stops after the initial cycle completes.

Battery percentage drops noticeably faster from 100% down to 80% than it does below 80% — what's causing that?

This is fuel gauge drift. The IC has not yet built an accurate voltage-to-capacity map for the new cell, so it over-reports early discharge and under-reports later discharge. The result is a fast early drop that then appears to slow down. One full discharge to auto-shutoff followed by a complete charge to 100% gives the IC a full voltage sweep to recalibrate against. After that cycle, the rate of drop evens out across the full range.
