Replaces TLP053C1 for Alcatel Tab 8 and 9048S models.
3.8V, 5000mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full charge cycles to aging tablets.
Connector slides into the original battery slot with no modifications required.
We bench-tested the BMS handshake through five full cycles; no early cutoff.
Run one complete discharge to shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and fixes inaccurate percentage display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel Tab 8 / 9048S — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLP053C1)

This is a 3.8V, 5000mAh (19Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Alcatel Tab 8 (model 9048S). It uses OEM part number TLP053C1 and fits directly into the tablet's battery bay. If your Tab 8 won't hold a charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or the battery percentage jumps around, this replaces the degraded cell.

  • Tab 8 / 9048S fitment: Both the Tab 8 and its 9048S variant share the same battery bay dimensions and the same BMS connector pinout. The TLP053C1 uses a flat Li-Polymer cell at 118.30 × 104.00 × 3.20mm — any thicker and the back cover won't seat correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Tab 8 platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake without faults, and cell voltage held steady at 3.8V nominal with no thermal trips during testing.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — don't force-power it off — then charge it in one uninterrupted session to 100%. The fuel gauge IC calibrates itself against the new cell during that first full cycle. Skip this step and the percentage display will drift.

Why the Tab 8 shuts down at 15–25% after a battery swap

The Tab 8's fuel gauge IC stores learned discharge curves from the old cell. When a new cell goes in, those curves no longer match the actual voltage profile of the replacement. Under combined display-plus-WiFi load, the chip sees a faster voltage drop than its model predicts and triggers a low-battery shutdown early. This is a calibration issue, not a defective battery. Running one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted full charge resets the learned curve and brings the shutoff threshold back in line with the actual cell state.

Fast charging not available after fitting the TLP053C1

Some Tab 8 units withhold fast-charge negotiation until the charge controller has completed at least one accepted charge cycle with the new cell. If fast charging doesn't activate immediately after the swap, plug in using the original charger and let the tablet charge to 100% without interruption. After that first full cycle completes, fast-charge negotiation resumes normally. Switching to a third-party charger before that first cycle finishes can delay the handshake further — use the original adapter for the first charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Alcatel Tab 8 is showing the wrong battery percentage after I replaced the battery — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. The Tab 8's fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it learned from the old battery, so the percentage readout is off against the new cell's actual voltage profile. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff without force-powering it off, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. That single full cycle resets the fuel gauge calibration and the percentage display corrects itself.

My Tab 8 drops from around 20% to dead with no warning — it was fine before the battery swap, now it just cuts out.

This is a voltage cliff issue. Under the combined load of the display and active WiFi, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC's stored model predicts, triggering an early shutdown. The IC still thinks it's managing the old cell. One full discharge-to-automatic-shutoff followed by a complete uninterrupted charge resets the learned curve — after that, the shutoff threshold aligns with the actual cell and the premature cutoff stops.

The Tab 8 feels warm near the charging port while the new battery is charging — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles is normal with a new Li-Polymer cell. The charge IC is working through its initial current profiling against a cell that starts with no learned history, which generates slightly more heat than steady-state charging on a conditioned cell. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or the warmth persists beyond the first two or three full charges, check that the charger output matches the Tab 8's rated input. For the first charge, use the original Alcatel adapter and charge in a ventilated spot rather than on a soft surface.
