Fits Acer Extensa 5120, 5230, 5235 and replaces OEM part numbers TM00741, TM00751, AK.006BT.018, BT.00603.029, and related Acer battery part designations.
10.8V, 4400mAh delivers 47.52Wh capacity — matches the original power envelope for this Extensa series without thermal stress on the charging circuit.
Connector seats into the battery dock with a positive contact tab on the left side; locking tab clicks down and holds the pack flush to the chassis frame.
We ran a full charge and discharge cycle on the bench; the BMS controlled cutoff at 10.5V with no early shutdown or cell imbalance flags across the three-cell stack.
After installation, run one full discharge cycle to system hibernation, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Acer Extensa 5120 / 5230 Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TM00741)

This is a 10.8V, 4400mAh (47.52Wh) Li-ion cell pack for the Acer Extensa 5120, 5230, 5230E, 5235, and related models. It replaces OEM parts including TM00741, TM00751, AK.006BT.018, and over a dozen cross-reference part numbers. The connector, BMS pinout, and voltage rail match the original Acer specification for this notebook series.

  • Extensa 5120–5235 platform fit: These models share a common battery bay format, 10.8V three-cell-series configuration, and the same BMS communication protocol over the SMBus line. One cell pack covers the full range without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on an Extensa 5230 unit. The BMS initialised on first connection, the BIOS detected the pack immediately, and charge current ramped correctly through CC-CV stages to 100% without interruption.
  • Post-install calibration on Extensa notebooks: After fitting, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This completes the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell

Acer's BIOS reads health data stored in the battery pack's EEPROM. When a new cell arrives, its EEPROM registers no charge history, which the BIOS interprets as a degraded or unknown pack. This is a data state issue, not a hardware fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge lets the BIOS log a complete cycle and rewrite its health estimate. After two to three cycles, the health indicator stabilises.

Laptop shuts down while the OS still shows 25–30% charge remaining

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The IC inherited the old cell's voltage-to-capacity map, so it misreads the remaining charge at high CPU and display load. Under that combined load, voltage drops faster than the stale map predicts, and the BMS cuts power to protect the cells before the OS gauge reaches zero. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles and the fuel gauge IC will recalibrate to the new cell — shutdowns under load should stop once the mapped floor voltage aligns with the actual 10.8V pack minimum of approximately 9.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Extensa 5230 BIOS shows "Battery: Poor" right after I installed the new pack — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The BIOS reads health data from the pack's EEPROM, and a new cell has no charge history logged, so the BIOS flags it as degraded. Run the laptop on battery until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one to two complete cycles, the BIOS rewrites its health estimate and the warning clears.

My Extensa 5235 is showing a wildly different Wh rating in system info than the 47.52Wh on the product page — why?

The Wh figure shown in Windows or Acer's power manager is read from the pack's EEPROM, which stores the rated design capacity. Until the fuel gauge IC runs calibration cycles against the actual new cell chemistry, the reported value can read low or inconsistently. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate then full-charge cycles and the system's reported Wh figure will settle to a value close to 47.52Wh.

The new battery stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — is there a fault with the cell?

This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Acer notebooks on some firmware versions activate an 80% charge cap to reduce cell wear during extended AC use. Check Acer's power management utility or BIOS settings under "Battery Health Mode" or equivalent and switch it to "Maximum Capacity." Once disabled, plug in and charging will continue to 100%.
