Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP ZBook 17 G3 — 11.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AI06XL)
This is an 11.4V, 8300mAh (94.62Wh) Li-ion battery for the HP ZBook 17 G3 mobile workstation. It replaces OEM part numbers AI06XL, 808397-421, HSTNN-LB6X, and 808451-001 among others. Fits the full ZBook 17 G3 lineup including V1Q04UT, V1Q08UT, and T7V62ET variants.
- ZBook 17 G3 platform fit: Every ZBook 17 G3 variant in this range uses the same six-cell 11.4V battery bay, the same connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — so one cell covers all 29+ sub-models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a ZBook 17 G3 unit. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge termination triggered at full capacity, and no over-voltage faults were logged during the test.
- First-cycle conditioning on the ZBook 17 G3: After installing, run one full discharge down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that almost always appears after a cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after swapping the AI06XL cell
The ZBook 17 G3 BIOS reads health data stored in the old battery's EEPROM. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM data doesn't match what the BIOS expects, so it flags the battery as degraded — even at 100% charge. This isn't a fault with the replacement cell. Run one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge. The BIOS battery learn cycle rewrites the health baseline against the new cell and clears the warning.
ZBook 17 G3 shutting down without warning while showing 20–30% remaining
This is a voltage cliff issue. Under combined CPU, GPU, and display load — common during renders or CAD work — the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track. The system hits the hardware cutoff voltage before the reported percentage reaches zero. The fuel gauge IC needs two or three full calibration cycles against the new cell to map the discharge curve accurately. Complete those cycles and the reported percentage at shutdown will track much closer to actual cell depletion — typically below 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ZBook 17 G3 just shows "0% available (plugged in, charging)" after fitting the new battery — is the cell dead?
No — the fuel gauge IC is reading stale EEPROM data from the previous cell and hasn't calibrated against the new one yet. Let the laptop charge to 100%, then discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, then charge back to 100% without interruption. After two or three of these full cycles, the fuel gauge re-maps the discharge curve against the new cell and the percentage reading stabilises. If it still reads 0% after three cycles, reseat the battery connector and confirm the BIOS detects the pack at startup.
The ZBook 17 G3 stops charging at exactly 80% and won't go higher — what's wrong with the replacement cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. HP's BIOS includes a Battery Health Manager setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress — it's a firmware-controlled charge limit, not a battery fault. Open HP Support Assistant or the BIOS setup (F10 at boot), navigate to Power Management, and check whether Battery Health Manager is set to "Maximize my battery health." Switch it to "Let HP manage my battery" or "Maximise my battery performance" and the charge limit lifts back to 100%.
System information shows the ZBook 17 G3 battery as 84Wh but the replacement is rated 94.62Wh — why is there a discrepancy?
The Wh figure shown in Windows or HP System Information is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery itself, and that value is set at the factory based on the OEM cell rating rather than the exact chemistry of the replacement cell. The 94.62Wh figure reflects the actual measured capacity of this cell. The EEPROM-reported number will update after the BIOS completes a full battery learn cycle — run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% and the reported Wh figure will reconcile with the actual cell capacity.
