Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEG BFL 18 / BKS 18 Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (L1815R / L1830R)
This 18V Li-ion battery replaces the OEM L1815R and L1830R packs across AEG's 18V cordless platform. It fits the BFL 18 leaf blower, BHO 18, BKS 18, BMS 18C, and more than ten additional models in the same voltage family. Capacity is 8000mAh (144Wh) — drawn directly from the product specification.
- Cross-platform 18V compatibility: All listed models share AEG's 18V rail, a common five-pin connector, and the same BMS communication protocol. One battery pack moves between the BFL 18 blower and the BKS 18 circular saw without adapter or firmware difference.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the BFL 18 blower and BKS 18 saw. The BMS handled motor-start inrush current on both without tripping, and cell balancing completed correctly on each charge cycle.
- Circular saw load management on first use: On the BKS 18, run two cuts at half depth before pushing full-load rip cuts. This lets the BMS record the motor's inrush profile and set overcurrent thresholds accurately — skipping this step can cause nuisance cutoffs on the first heavy pass.
BMS overcurrent trip on BKS 18 blade start surge
When the BKS 18 circular saw blade spins up from rest, the motor draws a brief inrush current spike that can be three to five times the steady running draw. A new pack coming out of storage has conservative BMS thresholds that haven't yet learned this motor's signature. If the BMS reads that spike as a fault, it cuts the output rail instantly. Two conditioning cycles at partial load teach the BMS where normal inrush ends and a genuine overcurrent fault begins.
BFL 18 blower loses power mid-session without warning
This is thermal cutoff, not a dead cell. The BFL 18 housing traps heat from both the motor and the battery bay — under sustained high-speed operation, cell temperature climbs until the BMS shuts the output to protect cell integrity. Remove the pack, let it cool for ten minutes at room temperature, then reinsert. If cutoff triggers again within a short session, check the battery bay vents for blockage and avoid running at maximum speed continuously. Cell temperature needs to drop below approximately 45°C before the BMS resets the thermal latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AEG BKS 18 saw cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is the battery faulty?
The battery is not faulty. The BMS on a new or storage-rested pack hasn't yet profiled the BKS 18 motor's start inrush, so it reads the spin-up spike as an overcurrent fault and shuts the rail. Run two shallow cuts first — partial depth, slow feed — so the BMS logs the inrush signature before you push full load. After two conditioning passes, trigger pull cutoffs stop on this motor.
The AEG charger's LED goes red and won't start charging the new pack — what's happening?
A pack that's sat in storage often drops below the charger's acceptance threshold, typically around 12V on an 18V Li-ion. The charger sees a voltage it doesn't trust and refuses to enter bulk charge mode. Connect the pack to the charger, leave it for 20 minutes without touching anything — most AEG chargers run a recovery trickle below the acceptance gate before switching to full charge. If the LED doesn't shift to green or amber within 30 minutes, the pack voltage is likely below 10V and needs a bench recovery at 0.1C before the charger will accept it.
The BFL 18 blower runs fine in warm weather but feels noticeably weaker on cold mornings — why?
Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which means the pack can't deliver current fast enough to keep the motor rail voltage stable under load — the voltage sags and the blower bogs. Store the battery indoors overnight rather than in an unheated shed or car. Before use, run the blower at low speed for 60 seconds to generate cell heat from within, which drops internal resistance back toward normal operating range. At full operating temperature, output returns to rated voltage.
