Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AgfaPhoto Realishot WP8000 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BP-5M)
This is a 3.7V, 500mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the AgfaPhoto Realishot WP8000 waterproof compact camera. It replaces OEM part number BP-5M and fits directly into the camera's battery compartment. Capacity matches the original cell at 1.85Wh.
- Realishot WP8000 fit: The WP8000 uses a slim Li-Polymer form factor — 40.20 x 33.50 x 5.60mm — to fit within the sealed waterproof chassis. The BP-5M cell matches that footprint and the voltage rail the camera's BMS monitors at startup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted the cell without rejection errors, and voltage held stable across the discharge curve until the low-voltage cutoff triggered cleanly at the expected threshold.
- First-install charge cycle on the WP8000: Insert the new cell and run one full charge through the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. The WP8000's BMS maps its battery-remaining display against the cell's discharge curve — skipping this step often causes the indicator to read incorrectly from the first shot.
Dead battery indicator on the WP8000 with a partially charged replacement cell
The WP8000 reads battery state by comparing resting voltage against a stored threshold map. A new Li-Polymer cell fresh out of packaging often sits at a partial charge — typically 3.7–3.8V — which can fall inside the camera's low-battery warning zone before any calibration has occurred. This causes the dead-battery icon to appear even though the cell has usable charge. One full charge cycle from inside the camera body resets the reference point and clears the false reading.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the WP8000 display
This happens when the camera's indicator firmware is mapping percentage against a discharge curve calibrated to a partially degraded original cell. A new BP-5M replacement has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity profile, so the percentage readout can jump — for example, from 60% down to 20% in a few shots. The fix is to run two to three full charge and discharge cycles through the camera body. After that, the BMS recalibrates its threshold mapping to the new cell and the readout stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions
My WP8000 shows "no battery" or won't turn on with the new BP-5M installed — what's wrong?
The WP8000 BMS runs a voltage check at power-on, and a new cell sitting at storage charge can read just below the acceptance threshold. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, then charge it fully via the camera body or OEM charger before attempting to power on. One complete charge cycle is usually enough for the BMS to accept the cell. If the camera body charges it successfully but still won't boot, check that the contact pins in the battery bay are clean and making full contact.
Shot count seems lower than expected — the WP8000 battery depletes well before I finish a session.
The WP8000's 500mAh cell is a small pack, and shot count drops fast when flash, continuous autofocus, and the waterproofing-related sensor processing all run together. Flash recharge draws a spike of current each cycle, which accelerates depletion beyond what a still-frame shot count suggests. Cold conditions also temporarily suppress Li-Polymer output voltage, which can trigger the low-battery cutoff earlier than at room temperature. Keep a second BP-5M charged and swap mid-session rather than relying on a single cell for extended outdoor use.
The flash on my WP8000 takes noticeably longer to recycle between shots — is this a battery fault?
Flash capacitor recharge pulls a sustained current burst from the cell, and if the BP-5M is near the end of its charge, voltage sag during that draw slows the capacitor's recharge rate. We saw this on the bench — at around 3.5V remaining, recharge lag increased measurably compared to a full cell. This is not a fault with the replacement battery; it reflects the cell's remaining charge state. Recharge the battery when flash recycling slows — that's a reliable low-charge indicator on the WP8000 before the display warning triggers.
