Fits Airis PhotoStar DC50 and PhotoStar 5708 models replacing OEM part numbers 2491-0015-00, 02491-0026-00, 02491-0037-00, and VG0376120700002.
3.7V, 600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 2.22Wh — sufficient for standard shooting without flash; flash cycles and continuous AF drain reserve faster than rated capacity.
Connector slides into camera battery slot with spring-loaded retention tab; polarity marked on cell body; no adapter needed for PhotoStar DC50 housing.
We charged this cell in the camera body and via external charger; BMS accepted handshake without fault codes; voltage held stable through 50 test cycles at normal discharge rates.
On first install, run one full charge cycle through the camera body before extended shooting — PhotoStar DC50 firmware updates battery-remaining display accuracy after initial recognition.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Airis PhotoStar DC50 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2491-0015-00)

This 3.7V, 600mAh lithium-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Airis PhotoStar DC50 and PhotoStar 5708 digital cameras. It restores power to image capture, playback, and memory card functions. The cell measures 43.70 × 31.30 × 7.00mm and slots directly into the existing battery compartment.

  • PhotoStar DC50 and 5708 compatibility: Both models draw from the same 3.7V rail and share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout, which is why a single cell covers the full range of OEM part numbers including 02491-0026-00, 02491-0037-01, and VG0376120700002.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the DC50 body and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell, reported charge state, and held voltage under continuous capture load without dropping to low-battery cutoff prematurely.
  • First-cycle calibration on the DC50: Run the first full charge from inside the camera body using the OEM charger cable, not a third-party USB adapter. The DC50 BMS maps its battery-remaining display against a charge curve sampled during that initial in-body charge cycle.

Dead battery indicator on the DC50 with a partially charged replacement cell

The DC50 reads battery state by matching the cell's resting voltage to a fixed lookup table stored in the camera firmware. A new cell that hasn't completed an in-body charge cycle can sit at 3.6–3.7V but still trigger the low-battery icon because the firmware hasn't yet mapped its discharge curve. This is not a fault in the replacement cell. Insert the battery, connect the OEM charger to the camera body, and allow a full charge to 4.2V before shooting.

Battery percentage jumping erratically during shooting

Compact camera fuel gauges are voltage-threshold based, not coulomb-counting. A new cell has a slightly flatter discharge curve than a worn original, so the percentage readout can jump — for example, from 60% to 20% — as the cell crosses a threshold the firmware wasn't calibrated to expect. This typically stabilises after two or three full discharge and charge cycles completed in the camera body. After the third cycle, the percentage display should track linearly from 100% down to the 3.0V cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

The DC50 shows a "no battery" error even though the replacement cell is seated correctly — what's happening?

The DC50 runs a BMS authentication check on first install and can reject a new cell if it hasn't been introduced via an in-body charge. Insert the battery, connect the OEM charger directly to the camera body, and let it charge fully to 4.2V before powering on. One complete in-body charge cycle is usually enough for the camera to accept the cell and clear the error.

My shot count on the PhotoStar DC50 is noticeably lower than I expected from a 600mAh cell — why?

The 600mAh rating reflects capacity under a steady, low-draw test current. In practice, the DC50 pulls additional current each time the flash capacitor recharges, the lens motor focuses, and the image processor writes to the card — all at the same time. Disabling the flash when shooting in good light and reducing the LCD brightness in the camera menu are the two fastest ways to extend the number of shots per charge without changing hardware.

The flash on the DC50 isn't fully recycling between shots on this new battery — is the cell faulty?

Flash capacitor recharge pulls a short but heavy current spike from the cell. If the cell is cold — below about 10°C — internal resistance rises and the capacitor takes longer to reach full charge voltage, leaving the flash underpowered on the next shot. Warm the camera to room temperature and test again. If the slow recycle persists above 20°C after the cell has completed two full charge cycles, check that the battery contacts in the compartment are clean and making firm contact.
