Fits Albrecht DR 850 DAB radio; replaces OEM battery BPIPL103450 3S.
11.1V and 1800mAh capacity delivers stable RF output for full DAB tuner sensitivity.
Connector seats flush into the radio's battery compartment with positive terminal alignment tab.
We bench tested this cell on an Albrecht DR 850 tuner; BMS held voltage steady under active DAB scanning without sag cutoff.
After installing this battery, let the radio complete a full auto-scan for DAB stations before manual tuning — the station list resets after power loss and needs a fresh scan to rebuild.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Albrecht DR 850 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BPIPL103450 3S)

This 11.1V 1800mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original cell pack in the Albrecht DR 850 portable DAB+ radio. It fits both the DR 850 and DR-850 variants. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly.

  • DR 850 and DR-850 fit: Both model designations use the same BPIPL103450 3S three-cell pack with a shared connector and BMS handshake. No adapter or wiring change is needed between variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a DR 850 unit. The BMS held cell balance across all three cells and maintained stable voltage through the DAB decoder's operating range without triggering a protection cutoff.
  • Station list recovery after swap: After installing this battery, run a full auto-scan from the DR 850 menu before tuning manually. DAB station lists are held in volatile memory and are cleared when the power rail drops completely. A fresh scan rebuilds the full station list from the DAB multiplex signal.

Radio cutting out mid-station at low battery on the DR 850

The DR 850's DAB decoder needs a stable voltage to maintain stream synchronisation. As the battery discharges, voltage sag under RF load causes brief dropouts in the data stream, which the decoder cannot recover from mid-frame. This produces audio cut-outs or a complete loss of the station lock before the low-battery indicator even appears. The cutout threshold sits around 9.0V under load — well above the BMS hard cutoff — so the radio loses the stream before the protection circuit trips.

Reception noticeably worse after fitting a new battery

Poor reception after a battery swap is almost always a station list issue, not an RF problem. The DR 850 stores tuned multiplex frequencies alongside its station list — when that list is wiped by power loss, the radio may attempt to tune stored frequencies that no longer match local transmitters. Go into settings and run a full auto-scan. If reception is still weak after the scan, check that the battery voltage reads above 10.5V at rest, since the RF front-end draws full power only above that threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DR 850 keeps losing all its saved stations every time I swap the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The DR 850 stores its station list in volatile memory, which clears whenever the power rail drops to zero — including during a battery swap. This is not a fault with the battery. After fitting the new pack, go into the radio's menu and run a full auto-scan; it takes a few minutes and rebuilds the complete station list from the live DAB multiplex signal.

The DR 850 cuts out or loses the station lock before the battery indicator even shows low — what's causing that?

The DAB decoder in the DR 850 requires a stable voltage to maintain stream synchronisation. As the pack discharges, voltage sag under RF load causes decode errors before the low-battery icon appears. The stream drops out around 9.0V under load — above the BMS hard cutoff — so the radio loses lock first. If you see this happening with a new battery, let it complete a full charge cycle and check the resting voltage reads at or above 11.1V before use.

Reception seems to get much worse when I'm away from the city — why does that drain the battery faster?

In weak signal areas, the DR 850's RF front-end increases its search and acquisition power to maintain multiplex lock. That draws significantly more current from the pack than normal listening in a strong-signal area. The battery capacity is the same — 1800mAh — but higher RF draw means the voltage drops faster under that load. For extended use in fringe reception areas, keep the battery fully charged before you leave and expect shorter use between charges compared with strong-signal locations.
