Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel One Touch 990 / OT-908 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CAB31P0000C1)
This is a 3.7V, 1300mAh lithium-ion battery for the Alcatel One Touch 990 and OT-908 series smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers CAB31P0000C1, CAB31P0001C1, TB-4T0058200, and BY71. Fit the new cell when the original no longer holds charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- One Touch 990 and OT-908 series: Both model lines share the same 3.7V cell footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the full compatibility range listed above.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the OT-990 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on the first cycle, charge current ramped normally, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage cutoff without falsely triggering on screen or modem load spikes.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable any fast-charge mode and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Why the One Touch 990 reports the wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC on the OT-990 stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell in its coulomb counter. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The phone reads voltage, applies the old curve, and outputs a percentage that drifts or jumps. One complete discharge below 10% followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to rewrite the curve against the new cell's characteristics.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the new cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under combined modem-transmit and display load — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge did not predict. The phone's power IC sees the rail drop below its cutoff threshold and shuts down, even though the displayed percentage looks safe. The root cause is an uncalibrated gauge reading a cell with different internal resistance than the original. Run the full calibration cycle first; if shutdowns persist after one full cycle, check that the connector is fully seated and measure resting voltage — it should sit above 3.6V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone powers on for a second then immediately shuts off — is the new battery dead on arrival?
It is almost certainly not dead. A cell that has sat in storage for months can drop below 2.5V, triggering BMS lockout. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS releases and allows normal operation. If the charge indicator appears and the phone boots normally after that, the cell is fine.
The percentage jumps from 45% straight to 15% with no warning — what causes that on a replacement cell?
The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from the old, degraded cell. The new cell has lower internal resistance and holds voltage longer at higher states of charge, so the gauge misreads the slope and skips a large percentage block when voltage finally drops. One uninterrupted full discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a complete charge to 100%, rewrites the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve and stops the jumping.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is that normal?
Yes, for the first two to three charge cycles. A fresh lithium-ion cell has slightly higher impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more heat while pushing current into it. Warmth near the battery bay is expected; heat at the top of the phone near the processor is a separate issue. If the phone stays warm to the touch after the third full charge, check that the battery cover is seated flat and no connector pin is bent — a poor contact forces the charge IC to work harder and sustains elevated temperature beyond the break-in period.
