Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel One Touch Hero 2 / OT-8030 Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp031C2)
This 3.8V, 3100mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Alcatel One Touch Hero 2, OT-8030, OT-8030Y, and OT-8030B. It matches OEM part numbers TLp031C2 and TLP031C1. Physical dimensions are 84.21 × 56.74 × 4.17mm — measure your original before installing if you are unsure of your exact variant.
- OT-8030 series compatibility: The OT-8030, OT-8030Y, and OT-8030B share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. All variants draw from the same 3.8V nominal voltage rail, so one cell covers the entire OT-8030 line without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge-discharge cycles on an OT-8030 unit. The BMS accepted charge from the native charge IC without tripping overcurrent protection, and the fuel gauge IC reported state-of-charge consistently once the coulomb counter completed its first full cycle.
- First-cycle calibration tip: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes into an uncalibrated state.
Why the One Touch Hero 2 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The OT-8030 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from the previous cell's charge and discharge history. When you install a new cell, that stored model no longer matches the actual cell chemistry and impedance. The gauge will read anywhere from 5 to 20 percentage points off until it relearns the curve. One full discharge to 3.0V followed by a complete charge cycle resets the model and restores accurate readings.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity problem. Under modem transmission or screen-on load, current draw spikes sharply and cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. A fresh Li-Polymer cell at higher impedance than a warm, cycled cell is most vulnerable in the first ten cycles. After the cell beds in and the fuel gauge recalibrates, the cutoff point typically drops back below 10%. If shutdowns persist past cycle 15, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises contact resistance and accelerates the voltage drop under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?
Likely not dead — the BMS has locked out below 2.5V per cell after deep discharge in storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold before the phone will boot. If the charge LED does not appear within 45 minutes, check that the battery connector tabs are fully clicked down before assuming the cell is faulty.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the new battery — the phone only charges slowly now.
The proprietary charge protocol on the OT-8030 requires the BMS to confirm cell state before authorising high-current charge. On the first cycle with a new cell, the charge IC defaults to a conservative trickle rate until it receives a valid response from the BMS at above 3.5V open-circuit voltage. Run one full slow charge to 100%, then discharge to around 15% under normal use. On the second charge cycle, fast charging typically re-engages automatically without any settings change.
Battery percentage is jumping around — goes from 60% to 45% in seconds without any heavy use.
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve and has not yet built a stable internal model. This is most visible in the first three to five cycles after a cell swap. The jumps narrow with each full discharge-charge cycle as the coulomb counter accumulates accurate data. Complete two uninterrupted full cycles — discharge to 3.0V until the phone shuts off, then charge fully to 4.2V — and the percentage readout will stabilise.
