Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel One Touch Pop D5 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TLi018D1)
This is a 3.8V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery for the Alcatel One Touch Pop D5 and its OT-5038 variants (OT-5038A, OT-5038E). It replaces OEM part numbers TLi018D1 and TLi018D2. If your original cell no longer holds charge through a full day of calls and messaging, this is the direct swap.
- OT-5038 series fit: The OT-5038, OT-5038A, and OT-5038E share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — all three accept the TLi018D1 cell without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on OT-5038 hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.35V.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC still holds the old cell's discharge curve in memory. The phone calculates remaining capacity against a worn curve, so it reads 20–30% while the actual cell voltage has already dropped below what the modem and screen draw can sustain. The result is an abrupt shutdown — not a gradual drain. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate forces the coulomb counter to reset against the new cell's actual voltage floor, typically around 3.4–3.5V under load.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges
A new cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. During the first two or three charge cycles, the charge IC pushes current into that higher impedance, and the extra resistance converts some of that energy to heat. This is normal and not a fault. Warmth should decrease noticeably by the third full cycle. If the back of the phone stays hot past cycle four, check that the charge IC is not stuck in fast-charge mode on an uncalibrated cell — drop to standard 5V/1A charging until the fuel gauge stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alcatel OT-5038 shows 25% battery then shuts off completely — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the OT-5038 retains the discharge curve of the old, worn cell after a swap. It reads 25% while the actual voltage under modem load has already fallen below the cutoff threshold. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate — this resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's real curve, and the shutdowns stop.
Fast charging stopped working after I put in the replacement battery — the phone only trickle charges now.
The OT-5038's charge IC runs a handshake with the BMS on the first cycle after a new cell is installed. Until the fuel gauge IC completes one full calibration cycle, the charge IC often defaults to a conservative current limit rather than accepting the higher fast-charge rate. Plug in with a standard 5V/1A charger, complete one full discharge-charge cycle, then retry your fast charger. The high-current rate should resume once the BMS has a calibrated state-of-charge reading.
The battery percentage on my OT-5038 keeps jumping — it reads 60%, drops to 40%, then jumps back up.
Erratic percentage jumps after a cell replacement are a fuel gauge IC recalibration artefact, not a defective battery. The coulomb counter is interpolating between two reference points — fully charged and fully discharged — and until it has one clean cycle to anchor both endpoints, reported percentages are unreliable. Let the phone discharge to auto-shutdown once, then charge to 100% without interruption at standard rate. After that single anchor cycle, the readings stabilise at the correct voltage reference points.
