Fits TCL One Touch Pop D5 and replaces OEM battery part number TLi018D1 or TLi018D2.
This 3.8V lithium-ion cell delivers 1800mAh capacity, matching original discharge performance under modem and screen load.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with no locking tab — orientation is keyed, insertion takes firm but even pressure.
We ran full discharge cycles on a Pop D5 bench unit; the BMS accepted the cell without fault codes and voltage held steady under sustained current draw.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-to-shutdown and recharge cycle before enabling any fast charging mode — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TCL One Touch Pop D5 / OT-5038 Series — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TLi018D1)

This is a 3.8V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the TCL One Touch Pop D5 and OT-5038 series smartphones. It fits OT-5038, OT-5038A, OT-5038E, and related variants sharing the TLi018D1 or TLi018D2 OEM part numbers. Physical dimensions are 58.00 × 52.00 × 5.00mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.

  • OT-5038 variant coverage: The OT-5038, OT-5038A, and OT-5038E all run the same battery connector and voltage rail, so one cell covers the full sub-series. The TLi018D2 is electrically equivalent to the TLi018D1 — same BMS handshake, same connector pinout.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and monitored BMS communication with the charge IC. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff and accepted charge current without fault flags on resume.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. This gives the fuel gauge IC a full reference curve for the new cell and prevents erratic percentage readings in normal use.

Why the OT-5038 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The OT-5038 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from the previous cell's discharge curve. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry, so the IC reports inaccurate percentages — often reading full when the cell is not, or jumping suddenly to zero. A single full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to write a new baseline. After that one cycle, percentage readings stabilise.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem or display draws a current spike the cell cannot sustain at its present state of charge — voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold momentarily and the phone shuts off even though the reported percentage looks fine. It is most common in the first few cycles on a fresh cell before the fuel gauge IC has a calibrated curve. Run the full recalibration cycle first. If shutdowns continue past three full cycles, check that the resting voltage after a full charge reads at least 4.20V with a multimeter.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is it dead?

Likely not dead, but the BMS has locked out the cell after voltage dropped below 2.5V during storage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release its lockout. Once the screen shows a charging indicator, a normal boot should follow.

Fast charging stopped working after fitting this battery — the phone only charges slowly now.

On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs on the OT-5038 default to standard current until the BMS completes its initial handshake. Run one full charge to 100% at whatever rate the phone allows, then disconnect and reconnect the charger. Most users see fast charging resume on the second connection once the BMS has completed its negotiation with the charge IC.

The battery percentage is jumping around erratically — showing 60%, then suddenly 35%, then back up.

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has no reference data for. The coulomb counter is guessing state-of-charge based on an old discharge curve that no longer matches this cell. Do one complete uninterrupted cycle — drain to auto-shutdown, then charge straight to 100% without unplugging. The IC writes a new curve from that cycle, and the percentage readings settle.
