Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Microsoft Lumia 435 / 532 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BV-5J)
This is a 3.7V 1550mAh Li-ion cell built to the BV-5J specification, fitting the Microsoft Lumia 435, Lumia 532, and RM-1070. It replaces the original cell when the phone can no longer hold charge through a standard day or shuts down unexpectedly under load. Dimensions are 60.10 × 38.10 × 5.60 mm — measure your existing cell before ordering if you are unsure.
- Lumia 435, 532, and RM-1070 compatibility: All three models run the same voltage rail and use an identical connector footprint with the same BMS handshake protocol, which is why Microsoft used one part number — BV-5J — across the entire range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Lumia 435 unit and confirmed the BMS communicated correctly with the charge IC, with no false cutoffs or thermal flags during a full charge cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. This lets the Lumia's coulomb counter map its readings to the new cell's actual discharge curve.
Why the Lumia 435 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Lumia 435 uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks charge by counting coulombs against a stored discharge curve from the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile, so the stored curve no longer matches what the hardware is measuring. The gauge starts reporting percentages that are off — sometimes by 15–20 points. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to rewrite its reference curve against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under the combined load of the modem radio and display — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge did not predict because it was still running the old cell's curve. The phone's protection circuit reads the voltage drop as a hard undervoltage event and cuts power before the gauge reaches 0%. After one full recalibration cycle, the gauge learns where the new cell's voltage cliff sits and the early shutdowns stop. If they persist past two full cycles, check that the cell is seated flat with no gap at the connector — a loose contact raises effective impedance and worsens the sag.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Lumia 435 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?
Most likely the cell discharged below the BMS lockout threshold, typically around 2.5V, and the protection circuit has cut output entirely. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the lockout voltage, at which point the phone should respond. If the screen stays dark past 45 minutes, check the charge port connection on the battery.
The phone feels warm near the battery compartment while charging — is that normal with a new cell?
A new cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a worn-in cell, so the charge IC pushes voltage against more resistance and generates more heat during the first few cycles. This is normal and typically settles after three to five full charge cycles as the cell's impedance drops. The Lumia 435's charge IC will also run a higher duty cycle on a fully depleted new cell. If the back of the phone is hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, disconnect the charger and let it cool to room temperature before resuming.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — goes up without charging, drops 10% in seconds — what's happening?
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating its coulomb counter against the new cell and its stored lookup table does not yet match this cell's discharge curve. The jumps are the gauge correcting itself in real time rather than smoothing readings through a learned model. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption — this gives the IC a complete data set to rebuild its curve from. After that cycle, percentage readings should stabilise to within two or three points.
