Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel OT-600A / OT-383A Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (OT-BY20)
This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion cell replacing OEM part OT-BY20 and its variants (CAB30M0000C1, CAB2170000C1, B-U8C). It fits the Alcatel OT-600A, OT-383A, OT-206, OT-355D, and over 113 additional models sharing the same battery bay and connector. Dimensions are 46.60 × 33.90 × 4.70mm — verify against your existing cell before fitting.
- Wide model compatibility across the OT series: These Alcatel models share a common battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The same cell and BMS handshake protocol covers the full list, so one part number covers the range without firmware conflicts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and recharge on OT-series hardware. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination and low-voltage cutoff — no false triggers and no thermal event during the charge-in phase.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after fitting, run one complete discharge to auto-off, then charge uninterrupted to full. This gives the phone's fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve against the new cell — skipping this step causes the percentage counter to report stale data from the old cell's discharge profile.
Why the OT-600A reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
Alcatel's OT-series phones use a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from accumulated cycle data on the original cell. When you fit a new cell, the IC still references the old cell's internal resistance and discharge curve. The result is percentage readings that drift or freeze — often showing 80% then jumping straight to shutdown. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle forces the IC to write a new baseline. After that cycle, the percentage counter tracks the new cell accurately.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — specifically during modem activity or screen-on states — even though the displayed percentage suggests capacity remains. At 700mAh, the OT-600A's cell is small, and a minor increase in internal resistance causes voltage to sag below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge IC registers empty. If the phone was stored discharged for weeks before the swap, the first two cycles may show this behaviour until the cell stabilises. Check resting voltage after a full charge — it should read 4.15–4.20V; anything below 4.10V after a full charge cycle indicates a conditioning issue.

Frequently Asked Questions
My OT-600A won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer with the new battery installed — what's happening?
A cell that ships or sits at low state-of-charge can drop below 2.5V in storage, triggering the BMS into lockout mode to prevent damage. The phone won't respond to a short press because the BMS is blocking output entirely. Connect the original charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — the charge IC will slowly bring the cell above the BMS recovery threshold (typically 3.0V), after which the phone will respond normally. If the charge LED never illuminates, try a different USB cable before assuming a fault.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it shows 60%, then drops to 15% in minutes — is the cell faulty?
This is almost always the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has no reference data for, not a faulty cell. The coulomb counter inherited discharge curve data from your old battery and is applying it to a cell with different characteristics. Run one complete cycle — discharge the phone to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging early. After that single cycle the IC rewrites its baseline and the percentage display stabilises.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that normal?
A new Li-ion cell typically has higher impedance on its first few charge cycles, which means the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat while pushing current into it. On a 700mAh cell this is low absolute power, so the warmth is mild and localised — not a sign of a fault. It reduces after two or three full cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the warmth continues past the third cycle, check that the battery contacts are seated flat and making full contact.
