Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel OT-8008D / One Touch Scribe HD — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp025A2)
This 3.8V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original TLp025A2 battery in the Alcatel OT-8008D and One Touch Scribe HD. It also fits the OT-8008X and OT-8000 series, which share the same connector pinout and charge profile. Dimensions are 73.10 × 54.13 × 4.40mm — confirm your tray depth before ordering.
- OT-8008 series fit: The OT-8008D, OT-8008X, and OT-8000 family all use the same 3.8V charge rail and identical flex-tab connector, so one cell covers the full range. The BMS handshake is the same across variants — no firmware conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the OT-8008D platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first connection, and protection cutoffs triggered correctly at both the high and low voltage thresholds.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins — skipping this step often causes erratic percentage readings for the first several cycles.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the OT-8008D after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a defective cell. The Alcatel OT-8008D's modem and display draw a combined current spike that the fuel gauge IC cannot anticipate until it has mapped the new cell's actual discharge curve. If the coulomb counter is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell, it will miscalculate remaining capacity and let voltage drop below the BMS cutoff threshold — triggering an abrupt shutdown even though the percentage display shows charge remaining. Run one full discharge to near-zero and a complete charge before trusting the percentage indicator. After that cycle, the gauge recalibrates and shutdowns at false percentages stop.
Phone feels warm near the battery compartment during the first charge
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. During the first charge cycle, the charge IC pushes current into that higher-impedance cell, which generates more heat than normal — this is expected and temporary. Keep the phone on a hard, flat surface during the first full charge to allow heat to dissipate evenly. If the device becomes uncomfortably hot to hold or the charger pulls above 5V/2A on a USB meter, disconnect and let it cool to room temperature before resuming. By the second or third cycle, impedance drops and warmth returns to normal levels.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alcatel OT-8008D won't power on after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead?
It isn't dead, but the BMS has almost certainly locked out the cell due to deep discharge below 2.5V. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage rises enough for the BMS to release its lockout and allow normal charging to begin. If the screen still shows nothing after 45 minutes on the wall charger, try a second known-good cable before assuming a fault.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically after I installed the replacement — 60% one minute, 45% the next.
The fuel gauge IC is still running on calibration data from the old, degraded cell. It uses a coulomb counter to estimate charge, and that counter's reference points no longer match the new cell's actual discharge curve. Run one complete discharge — use the phone normally until it shuts itself off — then charge it fully to 100% without interruption. That single full cycle gives the gauge IC enough data to rebuild its reference curve, and the jumping stops.
Fast charging stopped working after I swapped the battery — the phone now charges slowly on the same charger.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the OT-8008D sometimes defaults to a conservative constant-current rate until it confirms the new BMS will accept the higher-voltage fast-charge handshake. Let the phone complete one full slow charge to 100%, then disconnect and restart the device. On the next charge, the IC re-negotiates the protocol with the new BMS — fast charging resumes at that point. If it still charges slowly after two full cycles, verify the charger outputs at least 5V/2A on a USB meter.
