Fits TCL Y900 smartphone; replaces OEM battery part number TLp025A2.
3.8V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer cell powers processor, display, and modem without performance loss.
Connector slides straight into the Y900 battery slot; locking tab seats flush against housing edge.
We ran full discharge cycles on a Y900 test unit; the BMS accepted charge immediately without fault codes or early cutoff.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TCL Y900 / Y710 / S830U — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp025A2)

This is a 3.8V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer cell built to the TLp025A2 specification. It fits the TCL Y900, Y710, S830U, J929L, and six additional compatible models sharing the same battery bay and connector. Voltage and footprint match the factory cell — 73.10 × 54.13 × 4.40mm.

  • Y900 / Y710 / S830U platform compatibility: These models share a common battery connector, protection circuit pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers all of them without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Y900 mainboard. The BMS accepted the new cell, thermal cutoff triggered correctly at ceiling voltage, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly on a simulated over-discharge at 2.5V.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the TLp025A2 replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell's voltage curve. The Y900's modem and display pull current spikes that cause the new cell's voltage to sag briefly below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though state-of-charge still reads above 20%. The phone interprets that voltage sag as a dead cell and shuts down. One full discharge cycle at normal screen-on use, down to automatic shutdown, then a full charge resolves it. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell and the false-low cutoff stops.

Phone warm near the battery compartment on the first charge

A fresh TLp025A2 cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC compensates by pushing slightly more voltage to maintain current, which generates heat at the cell surface during the first one or two cycles. This is expected behaviour, not a fault. Warmth should drop noticeably by the second full charge. If the device stays hot past the second cycle, check that the charge IC is not stuck in fast-charge mode — confirm USB-PD negotiation dropped back to 5V standard before continuing.

Frequently Asked Questions

The TCL Y900 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below 2.5V during storage, which cuts all output to protect the cell from permanent damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs time to trickle current past the BMS lockout threshold before the phone can boot. If the screen shows no charge indicator after 30 minutes on a wall adapter, check that the charger is delivering at least 5V/1A.

The OS keeps showing the wrong battery percentage after swapping in the new TLp025A2 — it jumps from 60% to 15% without warning.

The fuel gauge IC on the Y900 stores a learned discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. The new TLp025A2 has a different voltage-to-capacity profile, so the IC's state-of-charge estimates are off until it recalibrates. Run one complete discharge — screen on, no charging — until the phone shuts itself down, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve and the percentage readings stabilise.

Fast charging stopped working after fitting the new battery — the Y900 is only taking a slow charge now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes fails to complete USB-PD or proprietary protocol handshake because the BMS is presenting an unfamiliar impedance signature to the negotiation circuit. Unplug the charger, power the phone fully off, then reconnect — this forces a fresh handshake sequence from boot. If fast charge still does not activate, complete one full standard-rate charge cycle first; the BMS flags fast-charge acceptance only after it has confirmed cell impedance is within range, which it does at end of the first full charge.
