Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alecto DVM-64 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (P002080)

This is a 3.7V 700mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Alecto DVM-64 baby monitor. It fits the portable parent unit — the handheld receiver caregivers carry around the home. When the original cell degrades and the parent unit drops off charge too quickly, this replacement restores normal operation.

  • DVM-64 parent unit fit: The DVM-64 parent unit runs on a slim Li-Polymer cell at 3.7V nominal. This battery matches that voltage rail and the PCB footprint (51.12 × 33.67 × 3.62mm), so the connector seats correctly and the protection circuit communicates with the unit's charge management IC.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a DVM-64 parent unit. The BMS handled cutoff cleanly at low voltage and accepted a full charge without triggering an error state on the unit.
  • Re-pairing after power loss: If the parent unit fully lost power before the swap, it will not reconnect to the camera automatically. Hold the pairing button on both units after the first charge — the DVM-64 drops its wireless link when the parent unit goes completely flat.

Why the DVM-64 parent unit loses range after a battery swap

The DVM-64 uses DECT 6.0 radio, and transmit power scales with supply voltage. A freshly installed battery that hasn't completed its first full charge sits slightly below nominal voltage. At that reduced voltage, the radio stage outputs less power, and range drops noticeably. This is not a pairing fault or a hardware fault. Charge the parent unit fully before testing range — the signal will recover once the cell reaches 4.2V.

Parent unit screen stays on all night and battery is flat by morning

The DVM-64 parent unit screen draws continuous current when left active — this is the single largest load on the 700mAh cell during overnight monitoring. A 700mAh Li-Polymer cell is sized for intermittent use with the screen timing out, not sustained all-night display operation. Go into the parent unit menu and enable the screen timeout or VOX-activated display setting. With the screen off between audio events, the cell's capacity is sufficient for overnight monitoring on a charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

The DVM-64 parent unit shows full bars on the battery icon but then dies without warning — is the new battery faulty?

This usually means the battery gauge in the parent unit is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell. The DVM-64 estimates charge level based on voltage curve data from prior cycles, and a new cell has a different discharge curve until it's been cycled a few times. Run two or three full charge-and-discharge cycles without interruption. After that, the voltage readings will stabilise and the indicator will track accurately.

Night vision on the camera unit stopped working after I replaced the parent unit battery — what's happening?

Night vision is controlled by the camera unit, not the parent unit battery, so the battery swap itself didn't cause this. What likely happened is the parent unit lost power completely during the swap, dropped the wireless link, and reconnected on a default channel without re-enabling IR mode. Re-pair both units from scratch — hold the pairing button on the camera first, then the parent unit — and then check the night vision setting in the menu, which resets to off after a full re-pair.

The DVM-64 parent unit won't connect to the camera at all after fitting the new battery — just shows "searching"

When the parent unit goes completely flat, it loses the paired channel data stored in volatile memory. Inserting a new battery doesn't restore that link — you have to re-pair manually. Charge the parent unit to at least 50% first, then press and hold the registration button on the camera base until the LED flashes, and immediately press the corresponding button on the parent unit. The "searching" screen will clear once both units confirm the handshake.
