Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech RM5764HD / RM5764-2HD — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (634169)

This 3.7V, 2000mAh lithium-polymer battery fits the parent unit of the V Tech RM5764HD and RM5764-2HD baby monitors. It replaces OEM part 634169 when the original cell degrades and can no longer hold charge through overnight use. Capacity is 2000mAh (7.4Wh) — identical to the factory specification.

  • RM5764HD and RM5764-2HD parent units: Both models share the same parent unit hardware — same voltage rail, same connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the RM5764HD parent unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • Post-swap wireless re-pair: When the parent unit loses power completely during a battery swap, it drops its wireless link to the camera unit. After fitting this battery and powering on, run the pairing sequence from the parent unit menu before placing the monitor back in use.

Parent unit battery draining overnight on the RM5764HD

Night-time monitoring with the LCD screen active is a sustained draw — the display, radio link, and speaker circuit all run simultaneously. An aged cell with reduced capacity cannot sustain this load across a full night. This replacement cell restores the original 2000mAh capacity. To reduce draw further, enable the screen timeout setting in the parent unit menu so the display cuts off between audio alerts.

Night vision not activating after battery replacement

The camera unit's IR LEDs require the parent unit to be at a stable operating voltage before they negotiate the night-vision mode. If the parent unit battery is low immediately after a swap, the handshake can fail and night vision stays off. Charge the parent unit to full — indicated by a solid charge LED — before switching to night-vision mode. If the IR feed still doesn't appear, toggle night vision off and back on from the parent unit controls once fully charged.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RM5764HD parent unit won't connect to the camera after I swapped the battery — what did I break?

Nothing is broken. When the parent unit loses power completely during a battery swap, it clears the wireless pairing in memory. Power the parent unit on with the new battery fitted, then run the pairing sequence from the parent unit menu — hold the pairing button on the camera unit until the parent unit confirms the link.

The range on my RM5764HD dropped noticeably after the battery replacement — was this battery under-capacity?

Radio transmit power on the parent unit is voltage-sensitive. If the new battery wasn't charged before first use, the unit runs below its nominal 3.7V and the radio backs off its output. Charge the parent unit fully before testing range — a solid charge indicator confirms the cell is at rated voltage — then recheck coverage from the same distance as before.

My RM5764-2HD parent unit shows a charging indicator but the battery dies quickly after unplugging — is the new cell faulty?

A shallow first charge is the most common cause. If the battery was only partially charged before use, the BMS logs a lower capacity ceiling and the unit shuts down earlier than expected. Run a full charge from flat — leave it on charge until the indicator goes solid — then discharge through normal use and repeat once more. This lets the BMS calibrate to the cell's actual 2000mAh capacity.
