Fits the Dynascan AD-09 handheld two-way radio; replaces OEM battery FNB-82.
3.7V lithium-ion at 1050mAh delivers consistent voltage under sustained transmit loads.
Connector seats vertically into the radio's battery slot with a single mechanical latch.
We bench-tested this cell in an AD-09 under repeated PTT cycles; BMS held steady with no overcurrent lockout.
On first insertion into the charger dock, if a fault LED appears, remove the battery, dry-wipe the gold contact strip, and reseat firmly — the AD-09 platform requires a clean contact cycle before the dock accepts the new BMS.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dynascan AD-09 — 3.7V Li-ion 1050mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V lithium-ion battery rated at 1050mAh (3.89Wh), built to replace the original pack in the Dynascan AD-09 handheld two-way radio. The AD-09 is a compact UHF radio used across personal and light professional communications. No OEM part number is published for this pack — the fit is confirmed by voltage, physical dimensions (53.20 × 35.30 × 7.10mm), and connector alignment.

  • AD-09 fit confirmation: The AD-09 runs a single-cell 3.7V architecture with a compact chassis. This pack matches that voltage rail and sits within the original battery cavity without modification. The BMS communicates directly with the radio's charge circuit on insertion.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the AD-09 platform. The BMS handled transmit current spikes without tripping into overcurrent lockout, and the charger dock accepted the pack cleanly after a full contact cycle.
  • First insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The AD-09 charger requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the AD-09 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

New lithium-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6V to 3.7V, not a full 4.2V charge. When you key the PTT on an AD-09, the transmit current draw spikes sharply. If the cell is at storage voltage, that spike can pull the terminal voltage below the BMS overcurrent threshold, triggering a momentary cutout. This is not a faulty pack. Charge the battery fully before the first transmission cycle and the cutout will not recur.

AD-09 bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after swap

The AD-09 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar display — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a calibrated capacity reading. A new pack at storage voltage reads one bar lower than a fully charged pack, which is accurate, not a fault. After a complete first charge to 4.2V, the bar indicator will reflect the correct state. If it still reads low after a full charge, check that the gold contacts on both the battery and the dock are clean and making firm contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AD-09 is cutting out the moment I press PTT — is the new battery tripping out?

Yes, and it is fixable. New cells arrive at storage voltage, and the transmit current spike on PTT can pull the terminal voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold. This is a storage-voltage issue, not a pack fault. Charge the battery fully to 4.2V before your first transmission and the cutout will stop.

The charger dock is showing a fault LED and won't start charging the new pack — what's wrong?

The AD-09 charger runs a contact-based BMS handshake on insertion, and a dirty or slightly misaligned contact strip will block it. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the dock with a dry cloth, then reseat the pack with firm, even pressure. If the fault LED clears within a few seconds of reseating, charging will begin normally.

The radio drops to noticeably weaker audio output mid-shift on transmit — is this a weak cell?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a capacity failure. During back-to-back transmissions, the cell's terminal voltage dips under the sustained current draw, and the radio reduces TX power to stay within operating range. Let the radio sit in receive-only mode for several minutes to allow the cell voltage to recover, then resume normal use. If the sag happens on a freshly charged pack, check that the contact strip is clean and seated correctly — a high-resistance connection amplifies voltage drop under load.
