Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alpina 124563 / AR 1 500 / AR2 Series — 25.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 25.2V 13800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on Alpina cordless lawn mowers, including the 124563, AR 1 500, AR2 1200, and AR2 600. It delivers the full 25.2V rail these mowers expect, with a 347.76Wh capacity that matches the factory specification. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds a charge or refuses to accept one.
- 124563, AR 1 500, AR2 1200, AR2 600 compatibility: These four models share the same 25.2V battery architecture, connector format, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack fits all four without adapters or firmware changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under simulated blade-motor load on the 25.2V platform. The BMS held protection thresholds correctly across charge, discharge, and inrush events — no spurious cutoffs on a warm, conditioned pack.
- Seasonal storage preparation: Before putting the mower away for winter, charge the pack to around 50–60% rather than full. A fully charged Li-ion pack sitting unused for months degrades faster at the cell level than one stored at mid-state.
BMS cutoff on thick-grass and wet-grass blade loads
When blade resistance spikes — dense clippings, wet turf, or a blade strike on a hidden object — the motor draws a sharp inrush current that can exceed the BMS protection threshold. The pack shuts down immediately to protect the cells, which looks identical to a dead battery. This is a protection event, not a fault. Let the mower sit for five minutes, then restart; the BMS resets automatically once temperature and voltage stabilise inside the pack.
Charger showing a fault light after the mower sat unused all winter
Over a long storage period, Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly. If they drop below roughly 2.5V per cell, most chargers read the pack as faulty and refuse to begin a charge cycle. This is a voltage-floor rejection, not a dead pack. Some Alpina chargers include a recovery or wake-up mode — hold the charge button for 10 seconds to trigger a low-current pre-charge pulse. If the charger lacks that feature, a compatible Li-ion recovery charger set to 25.2V at 0.5A will bring the cells back above the acceptance threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alpina mower cuts out halfway through a row, then starts again after a minute — what's causing that?
This is thermal protection activating inside the pack. The blade motor builds heat under sustained load — long rows, thick grass, or a slightly dull blade all push current draw up. The BMS trips the pack off when internal temperature hits its limit, then resets once it cools. Allow a five-minute rest between cuts in heavy conditions, and check that the blade is sharp — a sharp blade pulls significantly less current than a blunt one.
The battery feels noticeably warmer than my old Alpina pack after the first few charges — is something wrong?
New cells run warmer than conditioned ones for the first four to five cycles. Fresh Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance until the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces, which generates more heat per charge cycle. Run five full charge-and-discharge cycles through normal mowing use and the pack temperature will settle. If it's still running hot after cycle six, check that the battery bay on the mower is free of grass clippings blocking airflow around the pack.
The mower loses noticeable cutting power on the first run of spring — the pack is fully charged but the blade feels sluggish. What's happening?
Li-ion cells lose a significant portion of their usable capacity below 10°C. If the battery was stored in a cold garage, the cells start the day with elevated internal resistance — the blade motor still spins, but voltage sag under load is higher than normal. Bring the pack indoors and let it reach room temperature (around 20°C) for two to three hours before the first spring mow. Performance returns to normal once the cells are at ambient indoor temperature.
