Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AOPEN 1547 / 1555 / 1556 / 1557 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (90.NBI61.001)
This is a 14.4V 4400mAh (63.36Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for AOPEN notebook computers. It fits the 1547, 1555, 1556, and 1557 models. The OEM part number cross-references include 90.NBI61.001, BTP-52EW, BTP-89BM, BTP-90BM, and 805N00005, among others.
- 1547/1555/1556/1557 battery platform: These four models share the same 14.4V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all four without adapter changes or firmware workarounds.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a 1555 unit. The BMS negotiated correctly at first contact, reported full capacity to the OS, and thermal cutoff held within spec under sustained CPU and display load.
- Post-install calibration on the AOPEN 1547 series: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears in the OS after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The AOPEN 1547 series BIOS reads health data stored in the old cell's EEPROM and compares it against the new cell's reported values. When those values don't match its learned baseline, it flags the battery as degraded — even on a brand-new cell. This is not a fault with the replacement. Run one full calibration cycle: discharge to hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one or two cycles the BIOS recalibrates its learn table and the health warning clears.
Laptop shuts down hard at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. It maps the new cell's voltage curve incorrectly and triggers a shutdown well before actual depletion. The fix is a full calibration cycle — discharge to the point the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge without interruption to 100%. After two cycles the fuel gauge IC re-maps the voltage curve against the new cell and the displayed percentage tracks accurately. Check the OS battery report after the second cycle — remaining capacity should read at or above 60,000mWh.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AOPEN 1547 now shows the replacement battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and never moves — what's happening?
The OS fuel gauge IC is reading EEPROM data from the old cell and failing to initialise against the new one. Disconnect the AC adapter, hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual charge from the board, then reconnect and charge uninterrupted from flat to 100%. This forces the fuel gauge IC to re-initialise its register against the new cell's chemistry. After one full cycle the percentage should update normally.
The system info panel shows this battery as 47Wh but the cell is rated 63.36Wh — is the wrong battery installed?
No — this is an EEPROM mismatch, not a hardware error. The BIOS pulls the Wh figure from data written to the old cell's EEPROM and caches it in firmware. The physical cell is correct at 63.36Wh. Run the AOPEN battery learn cycle: full discharge to hibernate, then a single uninterrupted charge to 100%. After the cycle completes, check system info again — the reported Wh figure should update to reflect the actual cell capacity.
New battery installed, charges to 100%, but the AOPEN 1547 won't run on battery at all — shuts off the moment I unplug AC power.
This points to a failed BMS handshake, not a capacity issue. The laptop's power controller did not complete the authentication exchange with the new cell's BMS chip, so it cuts power immediately when AC is removed. Shut the laptop down fully, remove the battery, wait 60 seconds, reseat the battery firmly until the connector clicks, then power on with AC connected. If the BMS still does not negotiate, check the connector contacts for oxidation and clean with isopropyl alcohol — poor contact on pin 3 (communication line) is the most common cause on this series.
