Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple iPad Pro 11 2018 / 3rd Gen — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (A2042, 020-02507)

This 3.8V, 7700mAh (29.26Wh) lithium-polymer battery replaces the internal cell in the Apple iPad Pro 11-inch (2018 and 3rd Generation, including models A1980 and A2013). It fits when the original battery no longer holds a charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly at moderate charge levels. Capacity matches OEM specification — no reduction to fit a third-party form factor.

  • iPad Pro 11 2018 and 3rd Gen compatibility: These models share identical battery dimensions (187.50 × 145.35 × 3.15mm), the same 3.8V cell architecture, and an identical connector pinout — which is why A1980, A2013, and the additional 3rd Gen variants all run from the same replacement cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on an iPad Pro 11 unit. The charge IC accepted the cell without flag, BMS handshake completed normally, and the tablet reached full charge without thermal error or charge-stage interruption.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installation, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity and clears the inaccurate percentage readout that typically appears in the first few sessions after a battery swap.

iPad Pro 11 shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. When the new cell's voltage drops into the 3.5–3.6V range under combined display and WiFi load, the IC interprets it as a deeper discharge than it actually is and triggers a protective shutdown. The tablet still has usable charge — the gauge just doesn't know it yet. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the reference point and resolves the premature cutoff.

Fast charging not available after battery swap on iPad Pro 11

USB-PD fast charging on the iPad Pro 11 requires the charge IC to complete at least one accepted charge cycle before the device negotiates higher wattage from a USB-PD adapter. Immediately after a swap, the tablet may draw at standard 5V/2A rather than the 18W+ rate. Run one complete charge from low battery to 100% using the original Apple USB-C adapter. After that cycle, USB-PD negotiation resumes normally and fast charging becomes available again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iPad Pro 11 shows 80% battery right after I put in the new battery — is the percentage accurate?

No — the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the voltage curve of the old, degraded cell. After a swap, percentage readings are unreliable until the IC recalibrates against the new cell. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single full cycle, the displayed percentage will track the actual cell state correctly.

The iPad Pro 11 feels warm near the bottom-left during the first few charges after the battery replacement — should I stop charging?

Warmth in that area during early charge cycles is expected. The charge IC on a new lithium-polymer cell runs at higher current during the bulk-charge phase, which generates more heat than it will once the cell conditions after a few cycles. As long as the tablet isn't hot to the touch or displaying a temperature warning, continue charging normally. If a temperature alert appears on screen, disconnect and let the device cool to room temperature before reconnecting.

Battery percentage drops fast from 100% to around 70%, then slows down — why does it do that on the iPad Pro 11?

This is fuel gauge drift, not actual capacity loss. The gauge IC maps discharge rate against the old cell's stored voltage profile, so the early percentage steps appear larger than they should. The drop rate usually stabilises mid-range where the new cell's curve overlaps the old reference closely enough to track accurately. Run one complete discharge to shutoff and charge back to 100% — this writes a new reference curve and the drop rate from full charge will even out.
