Fits Aritech AS270-D alarm panel and TX-7201-05-1 control modules replacing original 12V backup cell.
12V, 12000mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell holds charge on float duty for years between replacements.
Solder tabs connect to panel header; orientation marked on housing — reversed polarity will not seat.
We bench-tested this cell on the AS270-D platform; BMS accepted handshake at 12.0V and held stable float.
Do not run a zone test or siren diagnostic for 48 hours after installation — the panel needs float time to accept the new cell and report accurate battery status.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Aritech AS270-D / TX-7201-05-1 — 12V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This is a 12V 12000mAh lithium manganese dioxide backup cell for the Aritech AS270-D alarm panel, TX-7201-05-1, and compatible UTC siren units. It sits on continuous float charge and takes over the moment mains power drops. Capacity figures come directly from the product data — 144Wh at 12V.

  • AS270-D, TX-7201-05-1, and UTC siren compatibility: These units share a 12V backup rail and the same physical cell format. The charge management circuit in each device operates at the same float voltage, so one cell chemistry covers all three without BMS conflicts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through simulated mains-loss events on a matched panel. The BMS held float voltage steady and logged no fault codes during the switchover or return-to-mains transition.
  • Post-install float charge window: Do not trigger a zone test immediately after fitting this cell. Allow 24–48 hours on float charge first. Running a diagnostic too early can cause the panel to report a low battery fault before the cell has stabilised at its rated voltage.

Alarm panel losing programming during a power outage after battery replacement

If the panel wipes its configuration during a mains failure shortly after a cell swap, the new battery had not yet been accepted by the panel's charge controller. Li-MnO2 cells fresh from storage can sit slightly below the float threshold the panel expects to see before it treats the backup supply as valid. The panel then falls back to an unprotected state when mains drops. Give the cell a full 48-hour conditioning period on float before the next power-cycle test — at that point the panel should read the cell above its minimum backup threshold.

Siren not sounding during a test after backup battery replacement

A newly fitted cell can cause the siren to stay silent on the first test activation. The siren driver circuit delays trigger output by 30–60 seconds when it detects a freshly connected cell, allowing charge to stabilise before drawing the high-current burst the sounder needs. This is not a wiring fault or a dead cell. Wait at least 60 seconds after the panel completes its startup cycle, then re-run the test — the siren should respond once the driver confirms voltage is stable above 11.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Aritech AS270-D shows a low battery warning straight after fitting the new cell — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The AS270-D panel needs 24–48 hours on float charge before its charge controller registers the new Li-MnO2 cell as fully accepted. Until that window passes, the panel continues to flag low battery regardless of the actual cell voltage. Leave the panel powered on with mains present for 48 hours, then check the status — the warning should clear once the cell is sitting at float.

The alarm lost all its zone programming during a mains outage the day after I replaced the backup battery — why?

The panel's backup circuit had not yet accepted the new cell. Li-MnO2 cells shipped from storage often sit just below the float voltage threshold the AS270-D needs before it trusts the backup supply. When mains dropped, the panel saw the supply as invalid and defaulted to a blank configuration. Fit the cell, leave mains connected for a full 48 hours, then confirm the panel reads the backup supply as healthy before the next outage or planned power-down.

I swapped the battery in my AS270-D and now the panel is showing a tamper fault — what causes that?

A tamper fault after a cell swap almost always means the panel enclosure lid or battery compartment cover is not fully seated. The AS270-D monitors its tamper switch continuously, and even slight misalignment of the cover triggers the fault. Open the enclosure, check that no wiring or the cell itself is obstructing the lid, reseat the cover firmly until you hear or feel it click into the tamper switch, then clear the fault from the keypad.
