This is a 14.4V, 5200mAh (74.88Wh) Li-ion battery pack for the Philips PowerCycle S8 and S8 Pro cordless vacuum cleaners. It replaces the original pack when capacity has dropped to the point where cleaning a single room requires a recharge. The cell format and connector match the S8 battery bay directly.

• S8 and S8 Pro compatibility: Both models run the same 14.4V motor rail and use the same battery bay geometry and connector pinout. The BMS in each unit performs the same handshake sequence at contact, so one pack covers both variants without modification.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on an S8 unit. The BMS accepted the handshake on first contact, charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity, and the protection circuit cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without tripping the overcurrent line.
• Dock charging habit on the S8: The S8 charging dock does not switch to a true standby mode once the pack is full — it continues to pass a trickle current. Leaving the vacuum docked permanently accelerates cell degradation. Charge to full, then lift the unit off the dock until the next use.

Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low

The S8 motor draws significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter can push draw well above the rated load. When current exceeds the BMS overcurrent threshold, the pack throttles output voltage before the indicator registers low, and suction drops noticeably. This is not a battery fault — the battery is responding correctly to an elevated draw. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest; if suction holds steady across a full charge cycle, the pack is performing as expected.

Motor cuts out mid-clean then restarts after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to pull more than the circuit allows, the protection layer shuts the output and waits for current draw to drop before resetting. The pause you notice is the BMS recovery window — typically a few seconds. Clear the brush roll and filter before continuing. If the trip recurs on an unblocked machine, check that pack voltage under load stays above 12.0V; a cell that sags below that threshold at moderate load needs replacement.
