Fits AT&T Motorola Atrix 2; replaces HW4X, SNN5892, SNN5892A battery packs.
3.7V lithium-ion cell at 1700mAh capacity powers the processor, display, and modem without voltage sag.
Connector slides into the battery slot with the contact block facing the phone's charge IC; locking tab seats flush against the left edge.
We ran this cell on a bench charger cycle and observed normal BMS acceptance; no early cutoff or balance circuit drift on first charge.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle with charging disabled above 80% — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell curve before the Atrix 2 reports erratic percentage drops.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AT&T Motorola Atrix 2 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HW4X / SNN5892A)

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion cell for the AT&T Motorola Atrix 2 smartphone. It replaces OEM part numbers HW4X, SNN5892, and SNN5892A. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a full charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • Atrix 2 compatibility: The Atrix 2 uses a fixed 3.7V single-cell architecture with a BMS that monitors charge termination via a dedicated fuel gauge IC. This cell matches that voltage rail and communicates with the onboard coulomb counter correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Atrix 2 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC reached full termination voltage without thermal events.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before enabling fast charge. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current cycles begin.

Why the Atrix 2 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Atrix 2 fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so the percentage readout drifts. The fix is one full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates against the new cell's actual capacity and the percentage readout stabilises.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops below the modem or display's minimum threshold under load, even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The old calibration data tells the OS the battery has more headroom than it does. A full discharge-recharge cycle resets the low-voltage cliff estimate in the fuel gauge IC. If shutdowns persist after two full cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose contact raises contact resistance and accelerates voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Atrix 2 shuts off at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it learned from the old battery, so it underestimates how close the new cell is to its voltage floor under modem and screen load. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge straight to 100% without interruption. After that cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates and the shutdowns stop.

The Atrix 2 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage before I installed it — is it dead?

A cell stored for several months can drop below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent further discharge damage. The phone won't respond because the BMS blocks output until the cell is recovered. Connect the original charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC will push a trickle current to bring the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone boots normally. If the screen stays dark past an hour, check that the charger is outputting voltage at the cable tip.

The battery percentage on my Atrix 2 jumps around erratically — drops 10% in seconds, then climbs back up — what causes this?

Erratic percentage jumps mean the fuel gauge IC is actively recalibrating against the new cell and hasn't completed a full learning cycle yet. The stored state-of-charge table doesn't match this cell's actual open-circuit voltage at each capacity point, so the readout swings as the IC makes corrections. Run two complete discharge-to-shutdown and uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycles back to back. The jumping settles once the IC has enough real discharge data to rebuild an accurate table for the new cell.
