Fits AT&T Z922, Avail II, Avail II 3G, Avail 2 — replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion cell.
3.7V, 1200mAh capacity delivers 4.44Wh for daily calls, texts, and standby on this compact smartphone.
Battery slides into the rear slot with flat connector — no locking tab, straight insertion only.
We bench-tested this cell in a Z922 unit; BMS accepted charge current on first cycle without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable any fast-charge setting for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this allows the fuel gauge IC to recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AT&T Z922 / Avail II Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion battery for the AT&T Z922, Avail II, Avail II 3G, and Avail 2 smartphones. It fits directly into the original battery compartment and restores power when the factory cell has degraded past usable capacity. Capacity is 4.44Wh — matching the original cell specification.

  • Z922 and Avail II platform fit: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The cell footprint is 49.00 × 47.80 × 5.50 mm, which keeps the rear cover flush without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Z922 platform. The BMS accepted charge current normally and terminated at full voltage without fault codes. No thermal events occurred during the charge cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before resuming normal use. This gives the fuel gauge IC a complete reference curve for the new cell — skipping this step is the main reason percentage readings jump erratically in the first few days.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Z922 after a cell swap

A new Li-ion cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated against. At high load — mobile data, screen at full brightness, GPS — the Z922's modem draws a current spike the new cell cannot sustain at that state of charge without voltage sagging below the cutoff threshold. The phone interprets this as a dead battery and shuts down, even though the coulomb counter still shows charge remaining. One full discharge-charge cycle resets the IC's reference points and eliminates most of these early shutdowns.

Phone warm near the battery bay during the first charge cycle

A fresh Li-ion cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC pushes current into higher resistance, and that resistance dissipates as heat. This is normal on the first one or two cycles and reduces as the cell breaks in. If warmth persists past the third full charge, check that the rear cover is fully seated — a partially open cover traps heat against the battery bay. Surface temperature above 45°C on the back panel is the threshold to stop charging and inspect.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AT&T Z922 shuts off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC in the Z922 was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell — when the new cell's voltage sags under modem or screen load, the IC reads it as empty and triggers shutdown before the actual charge is gone. Run one complete discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge straight to 100% without interruption. After that single full cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell's curve and the early shutoffs stop.

The battery percentage on my Z922 jumps around — it shows 60%, then suddenly 45%, then back up to 55%. What's happening?

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating itself against a cell it doesn't have reference data for yet. The Z922's gas gauge uses stored discharge curve data from the previous cell — on a fresh replacement, those reference points don't match the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. The IC keeps correcting its estimate as it gathers real data, which shows up as erratic percentage jumps. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles and the readings stabilise.

My Z922 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused in the phone for a few weeks — is the battery dead?

A Li-ion cell stored in a discharged phone can drain below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout — the protection circuit disconnects the cell to prevent damage, and the phone shows nothing when you press the power button. Connect the Z922 to a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for at least 30 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC delivers a low-current trickle that brings the cell voltage back above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point the phone boots normally.
