Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Audio-Technica ATH-AR5BT — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (KPL603038)
This 3.7V, 700mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original KPL603038 battery inside the Audio-Technica ATH-AR5BT wireless headphones. It fits the ATH-AR5BT directly, restoring Bluetooth audio and wireless playback to full capacity. Dimensions are 40.10 × 29.60 × 6.00mm — verify against your existing cell before ordering.
- ATH-AR5BT fitment: The ATH-AR5BT uses a slim Li-Polymer pouch cell with a specific connector orientation and BMS profile matched to the headphone's charging circuit. A mismatched cell voltage or connector pinout will prevent the headphones from powering on — this replacement matches the original on both counts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the ATH-AR5BT platform. The BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes, and the protection circuit responded correctly to both overvoltage cutoff and low-voltage shutdown thresholds.
- First-charge protocol for the ATH-AR5BT: Charge the headphones to full via USB before the first use. The ATH-AR5BT's onboard circuit needs a complete initial charge cycle to calibrate the battery gauge — skipping this step causes the charge indicator to read inaccurately for the first several uses.
Why the ATH-AR5BT cuts out mid-playback after a battery swap
The ATH-AR5BT draws current from two simultaneous loads: the Bluetooth radio and the audio amplifier stage. Under that combined draw, a new cell sitting near storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — can sag below the BMS cutoff threshold and trigger a shutdown. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. A full charge cycle before first use brings the cell to 4.2V and gives the BMS enough headroom to handle peak draw without tripping.
Charge indicator shows full but headphones cut off after short use
This symptom happens when a replacement cell is installed at storage voltage and the headphone's fuel gauge has not recalibrated to the new cell. The gauge reports 100% based on stale data, but the cell has not completed a full charge cycle. Run one complete charge from flat to full — confirmed by the charge LED extinguishing — then discharge through normal use. After two to three of these full cycles, the gauge reading and actual capacity align reliably. Target a resting voltage of 4.15–4.20V after a completed charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ATH-AR5BT keeps cutting out mid-song even though the battery shows charged — what's happening?
This is a voltage sag issue, not a charge state issue. The Bluetooth radio and amplifier pulling current at the same time causes instantaneous voltage to drop below the BMS cutoff, especially on a new cell that hasn't completed its first full cycle. Charge the headphones fully via USB until the LED goes out, then run them through one complete discharge. After that first proper cycle, the cutoff events stop because the cell is operating from a full 4.2V starting point.
Talk time feels noticeably short after fitting the new battery — is the cell faulty?
It's not faulty — Li-Polymer cells come from storage at reduced capacity and need several charge cycles to reach rated performance. On the ATH-AR5BT, usable capacity typically improves across the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the electrodes condition. Run the headphones down to the low-battery warning, then charge fully each time. By cycle five, capacity should be at or near the rated 700mAh.
The ATH-AR5BT feels warm near the earcup after an hour of use with the new battery — is that normal?
Moderate warmth is expected. The ATH-AR5BT houses the battery, amplifier, and Bluetooth module in a compact earcup with limited airflow, so heat from combined draw has nowhere to go quickly. The cell's protection circuit will cut off before any unsafe temperature is reached. If the housing becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, stop use and let it cool for 15 minutes — then check that the USB charging port is not partially obstructed, as a slow charge fault can increase heat during simultaneous charge-and-use.
