This 3.7V 800mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Nolan N-COM B902 L and B902 R (2023) helmet communication systems. It restores full function to the Bluetooth audio unit — music streaming, GPS audio, and rider-to-rider communication. Capacity matches the OEM specification at 800mAh (2.96Wh).

  • B902 L and B902 R platform fit: Both models share the same 3.7V cell, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The physical cell dimensions — 43.80 × 34.20 × 6.00mm — match the housing recess in both units, so no fitment modification is needed.

Why the B902 cuts out mid-call even with a new battery installed

A new cell at storage voltage (typically 3.6–3.7V) is more vulnerable to these dips than a fully conditioned pack. Talk time shorter than rated across the first few uses

Li-Polymer cells ship at partial charge and do not deliver full capacity on the first cycle. The N-COM B902's internal gauge calibrates against actual charge throughput, so early sessions will show reduced talk time even if the indicator reads full. Capacity improves incrementally over three to five full cycles as the electrolyte settles and the gauge recalibrates. After cycle five, measure resting voltage after a full charge — it should sit at 4.18–4.20V, confirming the cell has reached rated capacity.

The N-COM base uses a BMS handshake to verify the connected cell before allowing charge current to flow. If the new pack arrived at a low storage voltage, the base may flag it as a fault rather than a dead cell. Seat the unit firmly in the cradle, leave it for five minutes, then remove and reseat it — this forces the base to re-initiate the handshake. If the error clears, let it complete a full uninterrupted charge cycle before use.

The B902 gets noticeably warm during long rides — is that a problem with the new cell?

Sustained Bluetooth audio combined with RF transmission generates consistent draw inside a small housing, and some warmth is normal. The concern is heat that makes the unit uncomfortable to touch, which points to the BMS not throttling current correctly — usually because the first full charge cycle was skipped. Run one complete charge-to-cutoff cycle in the cradle, then retest. If the unit still runs hot after that, check that the cell is seated flat against the housing — a slightly raised cell traps heat against the PCB.

The base shows a full charge but the headset cuts off after just a few minutes of use — what causes that?

A cell at storage voltage reads as partially charged to the base station's gauge, so it terminates charge early and reports full before the cell has taken a complete cycle. When you then draw on it under load, the actual usable capacity is far below rated. Place the unit back in the cradle and allow it to cycle through a full charge without interruption — the base should hold it in charge mode until it reaches 4.18–4.20V at the cell terminals. One complete cycle typically resolves this.
