Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits Avant S6, S4, S5 cameras; replaces OEM part NP-900, 02491-0015-00, BATS4, 02491-0037-00.
3.7V 600mAh cell delivers 2.22Wh—sufficient for standard shooting sessions on these compact models.
Connector type and locking tab match OEM housing; insertion is straightforward with no adapter required.
Tested on S6 body; BMS accepted cell without authentication fault after one full charge cycle in camera.
On first use, run one complete charge-discharge cycle in the Avant body before heavy shooting—camera BMS requires this cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve to battery-remaining display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Avant S6 / S4 / S5 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NP-900)

This is a 3.7V, 600mAh lithium-ion cell that replaces the NP-900 battery in the Avant S6, S4, and S5 digital cameras. It shares the same footprint and connector as the original cell — 43.70 × 31.30 × 7.00mm. When the original cell no longer holds charge, this cell restores full camera operation.

  • S6, S4, and S5 compatibility: All three models use the same NP-900 form factor, voltage rail, and connector pin-out. One cell works across the entire range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the S6 body using the OEM charger. The BMS accepted the cell, reported charge state correctly, and held voltage above 3.5V through a standard discharge sequence.
  • First-install charge cycle on the S6: Run the first full charge inside the camera body or OEM charger — not a generic USB adapter. Some camera BMS firmware needs one supervised charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve to the battery-remaining indicator accurately.

Camera showing dead-battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

The Avant S6 reads remaining capacity by mapping open-circuit voltage to a lookup table calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new third-party cell may have a slightly different curve, so the camera sees a voltage point it maps to empty — even when the cell still has charge. One full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera body recalibrates the indicator. After that cycle, the percentage display should track the actual charge state within a few percent.

Battery percentage jumping erratically between shots

At 600mAh, the NP-900 cell has a small buffer. Each shot draws a burst of current for shutter actuation, image processing, and LCD refresh. If the indicator jumps — say, 80% to 50% — between shots, the BMS is seeing a momentary voltage sag and recalculating state-of-charge in real time. This usually settles after the first full charge cycle. If it persists past cycle two, check that terminal voltage at full charge reads 4.15–4.20V using a multimeter before re-inserting the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Avant S6 shows "no battery" or won't turn on after I inserted the new NP-900 cell — what's happening?

The S6 BMS runs a quick authentication check on insertion. If the cell voltage sits below roughly 3.0V from storage, the camera can reject it before a charge even begins. Place the cell in the OEM charger or camera body connected to a wall adapter for at least 15 minutes, then reinsert it. A single supervised charge cycle is usually enough for the camera to accept the cell and power on normally.

My shot count seems much lower than I expected — is the replacement cell draining faster than the original?

At 600mAh, the NP-900 has a small capacity, and shot count drops fast when flash, continuous autofocus, and image stabilisation all run simultaneously. Each of those draws current on top of the base sensor and processor load. Turn off flash when shooting in good light and limit continuous AF to reduce total draw per shot. Cold temperatures above a certain threshold also compress the usable voltage window — if shooting below 10°C, keep a spare cell in a chest pocket to maintain its temperature.

The flash isn't fully recycling between shots with the new battery — takes much longer than it used to. Why?

Flash recycle time depends on how fast the capacitor can recharge, which is directly tied to how much current the cell can deliver. At end-of-discharge, a 3.7V Li-ion cell sags in voltage and can't sustain the recharge current the capacitor demands. Check the cell's resting voltage before a shoot — if it reads below 3.65V fully charged, the cell may have a high internal resistance from deep discharge or heat exposure. Charge to full (4.15–4.20V open circuit) and retest; if recycle time is still slow, the cell has degraded and needs replacing.
