Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BBK VIVO Y17 Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BK-B-66)
This is a 3.8V, 2100mAh Li-Polymer cell carrying OEM part number BK-B-66. It fits the VIVO Y17, VIVO Y17t, and VIVO Y17W handsets. Capacity and voltage match the original BBK specification exactly — no adapters or modifications needed.
- Y17 / Y17t / Y17W platform fit: All three variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The Y17W differs only in regional firmware — the battery hardware is identical across all three, so one cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge and discharge cycle on a Y17 unit. The BMS handshake completed on first connection, charge IC accepted the cell without error flags, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge correctly within the first cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes amperage into an uncalibrated cell — preventing early percentage jumps.
Why the VIVO Y17 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Y17 uses a coulomb-counter-based fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from the original cell's discharge curve. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the physical cell — so the IC reports stale or inaccurate percentages. The result is jumpy readings or a percentage that doesn't match actual remaining charge. One full slow discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge to 100%, resets the calibration baseline. After that cycle the gauge tracks accurately against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display pulls a high current burst and the cell voltage drops below the BMS low-voltage cutoff — even though the gauge still reads 20–30%. It's a calibration gap, not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC inherited calibration data from the degraded original cell, so it overestimates remaining capacity at lower charge levels. Run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard (non-fast) charging speed. After recalibration, the cutoff threshold aligns with the new cell's actual voltage floor near 3.4V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The VIVO Y17 shuts off suddenly when the battery still shows 25% — is the replacement cell defective?
It's not a defective cell — it's the fuel gauge IC still running calibration data from the old degraded battery. The IC overestimates remaining capacity at lower charge levels, so the phone hits the BMS voltage cutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate without fast charging enabled. After that cycle the gauge recalibrates against the new cell's actual discharge curve and the shutdowns stop.
Fast charging stopped working after I swapped in the new BK-B-66 — the phone only charges slowly now.
The Y17's charge IC runs a handshake with the battery BMS before enabling high-current fast charge mode. On the first cycle with a new cell, the BMS sometimes responds outside the expected timing window and the charge IC defaults to standard 5V charging as a fallback. Plug in, let it complete one full charge at standard rate, then unplug and restart the phone. On the next charge session the handshake completes correctly and fast charging re-engages.
The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery area during the first few charges with the replacement cell — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat during the initial cycles. This is normal for the first two to three charges and reduces as the cell conditions. If the back of the phone stays warm beyond the third full charge cycle, check that the charge IC isn't stuck in a continuous trickle loop — connect to a 5V 2A source and confirm the charging indicator stops when the gauge reaches 100%.
