Fits Biomedical Crossvent 3+ and Crossvent 4+ portable ventilators, replacing OEM part numbers PRT4467 and B11470.
7.2V 5000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full power output for uninterrupted mechanical ventilation during patient respiratory support.
Connector seats straight into the battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab engages on insertion to secure the cell.
We charged the cell on a Biomedical service charger and confirmed the BMS accepts the Ni-MH voltage envelope without cutoff or fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — the Crossvent platform runs BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Biomedical Crossvent 3+ / 4+ — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (PRT4467 / B11470)

This 7.2V 5000mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the internal power cell in the Biomedical Crossvent 3+ and Crossvent 4+ portable ventilators. It fits both models using OEM part numbers PRT4467 and B11470. Capacity figure is taken directly from product specification — 36Wh.

  • Crossvent 3+ and 4+ shared platform: Both models run the same 7.2V battery rail with an identical connector and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits both units because Biomedical standardised the power architecture across this ventilator generation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Crossvent platform. The BMS accepted the cell, completed voltage verification, and cleared the low-battery alarm flag after one full charge cycle.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the Crossvent to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device BMS runs a chemistry verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Low battery alarm firing immediately after a confirmed full charge

The Crossvent BMS stores threshold parameters calibrated to the original OEM cell's charge curve. A new Ni-MH cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile until it completes its first full cycle. The BMS reads this as a below-threshold state-of-charge and triggers the alarm even when the cell is fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical deployment. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears at normal voltage levels.

Ventilator fails to power on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops below approximately 6.0V, the Crossvent BMS enters a protection state and blocks startup to prevent damage. The device will appear completely dead — no display, no boot sequence. Connect the Crossvent to mains power and leave it on charge for a minimum of four hours before attempting to power on. This allows the charge IC to recover the cell voltage above the BMS recovery threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Crossvent 3+ shows a low battery alarm straight after I charged the new battery — is the cell faulty?

It is not faulty. The Crossvent BMS compares incoming cell voltage against thresholds set for the original OEM chemistry, and a new Ni-MH cell presents a slightly different internal resistance until it completes its first full charge-discharge cycle. The BMS reads this as insufficient charge and triggers the alarm prematurely. Run one full charge cycle on mains power, then discharge the device normally, and charge again — the alarm should clear once the BMS has a complete cycle reference.

The Crossvent 4+ won't complete its boot sequence after I swapped the battery — it just stops partway through startup.

This happens when the BMS verification step at startup fails because the new cell hasn't passed an initial learn cycle. The Crossvent runs a power-on self-test that includes a battery chemistry check, and a cell with no cycle history can stall that sequence. We saw this on the bench — it resolved after one complete charge-discharge cycle. Charge the battery to full on mains, power down cleanly, then reboot and allow the full self-test to run without interruption.

The charge indicator on the Crossvent stops climbing before it reaches 100% — it's been on charge for hours.

The Crossvent charge IC applies a conservative current limit on a new Ni-MH cell during the first charge, which can make the indicator plateau well below 100% even after extended charge time. This is the charge controller protecting the cell, not a capacity defect. Leave the device on mains charge for a full 8 hours on the first cycle without disconnecting. After that initial charge, subsequent cycles will reach the full indicated charge level as the IC learns the cell's capacity curve.
