Fits Bissell AR20, AR21, AR29, AR30 cordless stick vacuums; replaces OEM part 132A0002.
22.2V and 2500mAh capacity delivers consistent motor voltage through full cleaning cycles on carpet and hard floors.
Connector slides straight into the battery dock with a positive locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in an AR20 with a blocked filter to confirm BMS holds steady under sustained motor draw without early cutoff.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock when full — Bissell docks apply continuous trickle charge that degrades lithium capacity within weeks; charge to full and remove immediately.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bissell AR20 / AR30 Series — 22.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (132A0002)

This is a 22.2V 2500mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Bissell AR20, AR21, AR29, and AR30 cordless stick vacuums. It replaces OEM part 132A0002 using the same voltage rail, cell count, and connector. Capacity figure is from product data — 2500mAh / 55.5Wh.

  • AR20 / AR21 / AR29 / AR30 platform: These four models share the same 22.2V six-cell architecture and battery bay connector. The BMS handshake protocol is consistent across the range, so one pack covers all listed units without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the AR20 motor platform. The BMS held cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold and communicated charge status to the dock without fault codes.
  • Dock charging habit on cordless vacuums: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charging accelerates capacity fade faster than regular charge-and-remove cycles. Charge to full, then pull the unit off the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the AR20

The AR20 motor draws harder when the filter is partially blocked — it compensates for restricted airflow by increasing current. That sustained overcurrent causes the BMS to reduce power delivery before the fuel gauge registers low. The result is noticeable suction loss while the indicator still shows adequate charge. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery was never the problem.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained restricted airflow forces the motor to pull above the pack's rated discharge current, the BMS shuts output to protect the cells — then resets after a brief cooldown. The fix is to clear the filter and check the brush roll for hair or debris wrap. If the cutout stops happening after a clean-out, the pack is functioning correctly and the trip was legitimate protection at the rated threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Bissell AR20 has full bars on the indicator but suction feels weak — is the battery failing?

Not necessarily. A partially clogged filter forces the AR20 motor to draw more current to compensate for restricted airflow, which causes the BMS to reduce power output before the indicator drops. Clean the filter first and check for blockages in the brush roll. If suction returns to normal after cleaning, the battery is functioning correctly and the indicator was accurate.

The AR20 motor cuts out for a few seconds and then comes back on — what causes that?

That behaviour is a BMS overcurrent trip. When the motor sustains a draw above the pack's rated discharge threshold — typically caused by a blocked filter or tangled brush roll — the BMS cuts output to protect the cells and resets after a short cooldown. Clear the filter and remove any debris from the brush roll. If the cutout stops, the pack is working as intended; the trip was a legitimate protection response.

My replacement 132A0002 battery is not charging on the AR20 dock — the light just blinks and stops.

The AR20 charger expects a specific BMS handshake before it begins a charge cycle. If the replacement pack's BMS is in a deep-discharge state, the charger may reject it before initiating charge. Remove the pack from the dock, wait 60 seconds, and reseat it firmly — connector seating issues cause the same symptom. If the dock still refuses to charge, check that the pack voltage reads above 18V with a multimeter; below that threshold, the charger will not engage and the pack needs a recovery charge at a lower rate first.
